Architectural Drafting Technician

About Us

Simeral Construction is a design-build general contractor based in Lititz, PA, specializing primarily in custom residential construction projects including renovations, additions, and new homes. We also operate a custom cabinet shop and take pride in delivering exceptional craftsmanship and collaborating closely with local architects and designers. No two projects are ever the same.

Founded in 1987, Simeral Construction has built a strong reputation for quality, professionalism, and attention to detail. Our team currently consists of 24 dedicated employees, with most projects located within 75 minutes of our office.

Position Overview

We are seeking an Architectural Drafting Technician to assist in the drafting and development of residential construction plans. This role supports architects, designers, and project managers by transforming design concepts into accurate, buildable construction documents for the field.

This position may be part-time or full-time.

Full-Time Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
(Overtime as needed)

Benefits:

Primary Responsibilities

Collaborate with Project Managers, Designers, and Architects to develop residential construction plans
Produce detailed architectural and cabinet shop drawings
Create and complete CAD drawings primarily for custom residential projects
Utilize SoftPlan 2026 CAD software (training available if not experienced with SoftPlan)
Assist in the development of project specifications
Maintain current knowledge of residential building codes
Coordinate with structural engineers to finalize structural designs
Organize and archive completed CAD files and project plans
Develop detailed sketches and drawing clarifications for field construction
Participate in client meetings as needed, including presenting plans, taking meeting notes, and redlining drawings
Obtain product information and design samples as needed
Conduct field visits to review design-related issues with project managers and foremen
Perform site measurements of existing buildings
Occasionally assist in the custom cabinet shop
Occasionally assist in the field with demolition, clean-up, framing, and millwork
Complete material takeoffs for project managers
Apply for and obtain permits including building, zoning, and sewer permits
Occasionally run local errands using a company vehicle

Important Note About This Position

This is a drafting-focused position and not a design role. The primary responsibility is to support architects and designers by drafting their designs into accurate working construction plans for the field.

Preferred Qualifications

1–2 years of CAD drafting experience in residential construction preferred
Appreciation for architecture and residential design
Basic understanding of residential construction methods and building codes
Familiarity with site plans and topography
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Bluebeam
Ability to read truss and engineered framing shop drawings
