About the Opportunity
A well-established manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Senior Procurement Manager to lead purchasing, strategic sourcing, supplier management, and procurement operations across a multi-site manufacturing and distribution network.
This highly visible leadership role offers the opportunity to manage a procurement organization responsible for more than $100 million in annual spend across commodities, packaging materials, specialty chemicals, and manufacturing supplies. The Senior Procurement Manager will oversee a team of procurement professionals while remaining actively involved in purchasing, sourcing, supplier negotiations, and inventory planning.
This position is ideal for candidates with experience as a Procurement Manager, Purchasing Manager, Supply Chain Manager, Sourcing Manager, Strategic Sourcing Manager, Category Manager, Materials Manager, or Procurement Director within a manufacturing, consumer packaged goods (CPG), industrial products, agriculture, chemicals, packaging, or distribution environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 4-5 buyers and procurement professionals.
- Drive procurement best practices, supplier performance management, and sourcing strategies.
- Build a culture focused on cost savings, supplier partnerships, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with leadership, operations, production planning, customer service, regulatory, R&D, and finance teams.
Strategic Sourcing & Purchasing
- Manage and execute procurement strategies for a diverse portfolio of direct materials and manufacturing inputs.
- Lead supplier negotiations involving pricing, contracts, service agreements, and supply commitments.
- Identify and implement cost-reduction, value engineering, and strategic sourcing opportunities.
- Analyze commodity market trends and develop sourcing strategies to mitigate risk.
- Ensure uninterrupted supply of raw materials and packaging materials supporting manufacturing operations.
Commodity & Raw Material Procurement
- Purchase bulk commodities used in manufacturing operations.
- Manage procurement of products delivered via railcar, bulk truck, totes, drums, and other industrial formats.
- Develop sourcing strategies for commodity-driven spend categories.
- Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships across domestic and international supply markets.
Packaging Procurement
- Lead packaging sourcing and supplier management initiatives.
- Purchase packaging materials including:
- Labels
- Flexible packaging
- Plastic bags
- Rigid plastic containers
- Injection-molded packaging
- Consumer packaged goods packaging
- In-Mold Labels (IML)
- Work closely with suppliers to improve quality, cost, and supply continuity.
Supply Chain & MRP Management
- Utilize MRP and ERP systems to support purchasing, inventory management, and production planning.
- Coordinate purchasing activities across multiple manufacturing facilities and distribution locations.
- Collaborate with operations to optimize inventory levels while maintaining service performance.
- Support demand planning and supply chain initiatives that improve efficiency and working capital.
Data Integrity & Compliance
- Maintain accuracy of procurement data, including:
- Product costing
- Bills of Material (BOM)
- Formulations
- Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- Supplier information
- Inventory and purchasing records
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Engineering, Agriculture, Manufacturing, or a related field.
- 5-10+ years of procurement, purchasing, strategic sourcing, or supply chain experience.
- Experience leading procurement teams within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong commodity purchasing and supplier negotiation experience.
- Experience managing procurement budgets and departmental expenses.
- Working knowledge of ERP and MRP systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to travel approximately two weeks per month for supplier visits, plant support, and industry events.
Preferred
- Advanced degree (MBA or related field).
- Experience with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne (JDE E1).

Pay: $125,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
