Full Job Description

Overview
We are seeking an experienced dental assistant to join our small, but mighty team in the Greater Lansing area. We emphasize education and excellence, and we hope you will bring your fine tuned hand skills and desire to learn and grow with us. We see patients M, W from 8-5 and Thursdays from 8-2. Admin day on Tuesdays. Off most Fridays.

Duties

Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments following strict aseptic techniques to maintain infection control standards.
Assist dentists chairside during various procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed.
Manage patient records ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Collect vital signs and medical history information to support comprehensive patient assessments.
Provide dental education to patients about procedures, oral hygiene practices, and post-treatment care.
Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist and managing medical documentation

Requirements

Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant with current licensure or registration where applicable. Will consider an experienced dental assistant without registration for the right person.
Proven experience in dental assisting within a general or specialty practice, including pediatric dentistry preferred.
Proficiency with dental software platforms such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques essential for safe practice.
Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including 3D scanners when required for advanced diagnostics.
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and collaborate with team members in a four-handed dentistry environment.
