Holt Eye Care is looking for a new staff member to join our team in the clinic as an Optometric Scribe. Role Expectations:
Assume all functions of an Optometric Technician:
Gains the confidence and trust of staff through honesty, integrity, and authenticity. Builds strong patient relationships. Delivers clear understanding and communication of the patient needs to the doctor. Assists patients with eye examinations and patient care. Gather patient’s health history, Chief Complaint, Tonometry, Visual Acuity, and various optometric testing including, but not limited to: Optical Coherence Tomography, Humphrey Visual Field, Topography, Optomap Imaging, QuantifEye, Pachymetry, Auto-Refraction, and Manual/Auto Lensometry. Works in a fast-paced environment with strong use of Electronic Health Records. Maintains proper clinic inventory, cleanliness, and organization. Compliance with HIPAA standards and office policies & procedures. Understands the most effective and efficient processes for job functions. Consistently seeks ways to develop, improve, and be challenged with job expectations and functionalities.
Collaborates with team and doctors to ensure care and information is properly recorded and translated. Uses Decision Quality to determine proper notation is recorded by Optometric Technician. Drives Results by ensuring proper medical and billing diagnostic codes are selected. Understands proper Organizational Savviness to ensure patients are being cared for to the best of our ability and all relevant information in relation to patient care is given/presented to the patient and/or team member. Shows Nimble Learning by continuing to develop
Job Responsibilities
- Assists in the performance of visual preliminary testing as needed to include: autorefraction, inner-ocular pressure, neutralizing prescription eyewear, visual acuity, motility testing, pupil assessment, confrontation fields, anterior chamber angle assessment, dilation, Amsler Grid, color vision, stereo vision testing, but not limited to these skill sets
- Uses Decision Quality to assess and review the patient’s previous health information notated by technician and previous examinations to ensure all necessary information is completed
- Collaborates directly with the Optometrist during every examination to ensure all required data is accurately measured and input
- Performs additional testing as needed such as Visual Fields, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Topography, Optomap, QuantifEye, Pachymetry, Lipiscan, TearLab, and more
- Maintains strict patient confidentiality away from work
- Utilizes proper technology to communicate and document patient data
- Completes the department's training program and all necessary educational requirements to perform job responsibilities
- Handle multiple customers effectively by utilizing Effective Communication, Operational Adherence, and Knowledge of Optometry
- Drives Results of personal, department, and organizational goals through Collaboration, Functional Leadership, and Nimble Learning

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
