Complete Automation, located in Lake Orion, Michigan, in northern Oakland County, is a global industry leader in fluid delivery systems. We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team. Your knowledge and ideas will lead to new or improved products and make a difference in designing and building tomorrow's fluid handling systems (paint, food, and beverage).
This position is responsible for translating customer requirements into engineered solutions and working closely with mechanical, electrical, controls, design, and project management teams throughout the life of a project.
The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical background, enjoys solving technical problems, and is comfortable working directly with customers and field personnel.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Design Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams with detailed BOM for customer Paint Delivery Systems.
- Perform piping fluid & pressure loss calculations to size system headers.
- Review & markup manufacturing design drawings before releasing to the shop floor.
- Ensure projects are within customer specs & attend customer meetings to finalize systems.
- Work alongside Electrical Engineering, Design, Project Management & Controls Engineering to develop customer systems.
- Commission systems at shop and provide on-site commissioning support to ensure smooth startup.
- Provide project and customer troubleshooting support with current and previous installations.
- Write Sequence of Operation manuals for project systems.
- Work with project Designer to create installation packages.
- Coordinate with Field Supervisor to answer any installation questions & assist in listing installation material to be sent to site.
- Assist in R&D projects and provide future project ideas or improvements.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering or technical degree.
- 2- 5 years of experience in fluid delivery system design, the automotive industry or other relevant Engineering experience is preferred.
- Knowledge in fluid mechanics.
- Strong mechanical aptitude & problem solving skills.
- Familiar with 2D AutoCAD and Excel.
- Strong written, oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail and follow-through skills.
- Traveling to customer sites for project reviews / commissioning. Approximately 10-20%
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with automotive OEM paint systems
- Familiarity with 2K dispense, electrocoat, or sealer systems
- Exposure to PLC/HMI-controlled equipment
- Knowledge of ASME B31.3 process piping standards
- Previous commissioning or startup experience in manufacturing environments

- Salary range: $85,000–$100,000, depending on experience, paid weekly with an additional comp Pay scale for hours worked over 50
