Position Title: Sous Chef
Department: Food & Beverage / Operations
Reports To: Executive Chef / Food & Beverage Manager
Location: On-Site (USA)
Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Overview
DoubleTree by Hilton Laredo is actively seeking a dynamic and experienced Sous Chef to shape and optimize our hotel’s food and beverage landscape. Position Summary
The Sous Chef at DoubleTree by Hilton Laredo is a key member of the culinary leadership team, responsible for supporting the Executive Chef in overseeing kitchen operations, supervising the culinary staff, and ensuring food quality, presentation, and sanitation standards are consistently met. This role helps drive a high-performance kitchen culture aligned with Hilton brand expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Executive Chef in managing all culinary operations, including line, prep, banquet, and stewarding teams.
Supervise and train cooks and kitchen staff to ensure compliance with recipes, portioning, and presentation standards.
Maintain food quality, consistency, and service timeliness across all meal periods.
Monitor inventory and assist with ordering, receiving, and proper storage of food and supplies.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including food handling and sanitation standards.
Lead by example during peak service times, working line stations as needed.
Collaborate on menu development, specials, and cost control initiatives.
Assist in scheduling, labor management, and performance evaluations.
Support hotel banquet operations with menu execution and event coordination.
Foster a positive and professional kitchen environment aligned with Hilton’s CARE culture.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; culinary degree preferred.
3+ years of progressive culinary experience in a high-volume, full-service hotel or restaurant; at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety, and kitchen equipment.
Proven ability to lead and motivate kitchen staff under pressure.
ServSafe or local food handler certification required.
Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays.
