Commercial Electrical Estimator

Location: Upper Marlboro MD, Flexible (Hybrid / Remote Considered)

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Electrical Estimator to join our growing Preconstruction team. The ideal candidate will have strong estimating experience in commercial, industrial, and government electrical construction projects, excellent communication and leadership skills, and the ability to leverage technology to improve efficiency and accuracy throughout the estimating process.

Experience with design-build and design-assist projects is highly desirable. Candidates should be comfortable collaborating with owners, engineers, architects, and project teams during the preconstruction process to develop scopes, budgets, conceptual estimates, and value engineering solutions.

Remote or hybrid work arrangements may be considered for the right candidate as mutual trust and working relationships are established.

Responsibilities

Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for commercial, industrial, and government electrical construction projects.
Review plans, specifications, design narratives, and contract documents.
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and pricing using industry-standard estimating software.
Develop conceptual, schematic, budgetary, and GMP estimates for design-build and design-assist projects.
Analyze drawings and specifications to identify scope gaps, conflicts, and opportunities.
Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
Participate in scope reviews, value engineering discussions, and project handoff meetings.
Lead and support preconstruction efforts while mentoring team members as needed.
Maintain effective communication with owners, general contractors, design teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

5+ years of commercial electrical estimating experience preferred.
Strong working knowledge of:
Accubid
Microsoft Excel
Bluebeam Revu
Experience with Procore is preferred but not required.
Experience with design-build and design-assist project delivery methods is strongly preferred.
Familiarity with federal, state, local, and other government contracting requirements, including prevailing wage projects, bonding requirements, certifications, and contract compliance.
Strong technological aptitude and willingness to embrace new tools and processes.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Proven leadership ability with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is technically strong, detail-oriented, proactive, and confident communicating with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and internal staff. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable pricing work, leading preconstruction discussions, and helping guide projects from concept through award.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, technical expertise, and demonstrated leadership abilities. The anticipated salary range for this position is $80,000 to $160,000 annually, with opportunities for additional performance-based incentives.

Candidates with extensive experience in commercial electrical estimating, government contracting, design-build preconstruction, leadership, and strategic client development will be considered at the upper end of the salary range.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
