Job Summary

WheatFields Bakery Cafe in Lawrence, KS is looking for an experienced Kitchen Manager or Head Chef to lead our kitchen team. Responsibilities include personnel management, inventory control, staff training and education, and menu development. The right candidate will bring an inspiration for our breakfast and lunch menu while leading their team. WheatFields is a nationally known bakery that features hearth-baked breads, pastries, and a menu that serves breakfast and lunch menu.

Duties

Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation to uphold WFBC standards of quality and consistency.
Lead and supervise kitchen staff, fostering a positive team environment while managing shifts effectively.
Plan menu items that balance creativity with cost control.
Manage inventory control and food ordering processes to ensure optimal stock levels without waste.
Enforce strict food safety sanitizing procedures, ensuring compliance with health regulations across all kitchen activities.
Monitor food production processes to maintain efficiency, quality standards, and adherence to budget targets.

Skills

Proven supervising experience with the ability to manage teams as a chef or kitchen leader.
Knowledge of food safety practices, sanitizing procedures, and dietary department standards.
Skilled in food management, inventory management, and cost control strategies.
Experience in restaurant management or hospitality settings with excellent leadership qualities.
Strong communication skills paired with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
