Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Underwriting Specialist to join our Underwriting/ New Business Department. This role is responsible for reviewing insurance applications, gathering and evaluating medical information, and making underwriting decisions based on company guidelines. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate professionally with agents and applicants throughout the underwriting process.

Key Responsibilities
- Review new insurance applications to ensure all required information is complete and accurate
- Speak directly with agents and applicants to review applications and confirm required information and authorization
- Evaluate medical information gathered during the underwriting process and determine whether applications meet Company guidelines
- Enter and verify application data within internal systems with a strong focus on accuracy and detail
- Communicate with agents and applicants to obtain any outstanding information and provide clear, professional updates throughout the underwriting process
- Maintain organized documentation and accurate records throughout the life of the application
- Deliver a high level of service to agents and applicants while managing multiple applications at once
- Contribute to a team-focused environment and assist with process improvements when opportunities arise
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency using Microsoft products and ability to learn new software
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Previous life or health insurance experience, preferred
- Background in healthcare, insurance, or underwriting, preferred
- Familiarity with medical terminology, preferred

o Friday: 7:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. (No lunch break)
o During the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period (October 15–December 7), Friday hours extend to 4:25 p.m. (30 -minute lunch break) – Subject to change
