Reports To: Manager, Permitting
Travel Potential: 0–10%
Compensation: $30 - $35 Hourly

Job Summary:

As the Permit Specialist I, II, III, you will ultimately be responsible for coordinating permitting activities, securing permit approvals, and maintaining compliance with jurisdictional requirements for telecommunications projects. You will collaborate with internal teams, permitting agencies, and customers to ensure permit applications are complete, accurate, and approved on schedule. As the Permit Specialist, your customers are permitting agencies, municipalities, telecommunications clients, project teams, and engineering staff, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company's success through regulatory compliance, effective communication, and timely project execution.

Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

Work with Project Coordinators to ensure permit applications are complete, accurate, and submitted on schedule.
Research, document, and communicate permit requirements for municipalities, agencies, and customers.
Facilitate meetings with permitting jurisdictions, customers, and internal project teams.
Manage the permit application process from submission through approval while tracking permit status and resolving issues preventing approval.
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for permitting requirements internally and externally.
Maintain permit records and update Congruex and customer systems with current permit information.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with city planners, permitting agencies, and jurisdictional representatives.
Provide exceptional customer service while supporting project timelines and business objectives.
Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs.

Required Qualifications:

Education, Licensing, and Certifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Valid driver's license preferred for local jurisdiction meetings.

Experience

Experience securing permits for construction and/or telecommunications projects strongly preferred.
Experience working with permitting agencies, municipalities, or utility providers preferred.

Skills and Abilities

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Superior organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize changing workloads and adapt to shifting project requirements.

Ability to maintain professionalism while interacting with customers, permitting agencies, and internal teams.
Superior customer service skills with a commitment to delivering "White Glove Service."
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and PDF editing software.
Ability to quickly learn new software systems and databases.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), or a related field.
Experience supporting telecommunications engineering or utility permitting projects.
Knowledge of municipal permitting processes and jurisdictional requirements.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to work predominantly in a remote environment.
Ability to attend occasional in-person meetings with permitting agencies and internal teams in the Atlanta, GA area.
Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
Ability to travel locally for meetings with permitting agencies and customers as needed.
