Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Pre-Operative / PACU Registered Nurse and play a vital role in ensuring seamless surgical experiences for patients. This energetic position offers the opportunity to deliver exceptional patient care before and after surgery, utilizing your expertise in critical care, anesthesia recovery, and perioperative nursing. You will be at the forefront of patient assessment, monitoring, and education, contributing to positive surgical outcomes and patient satisfaction. We are dedicated to fostering a supportive environment where your skills in medical documentation, EMR/EHR systems, and specialized nursing procedures make a real difference.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments to evaluate patient readiness for surgery, including vital signs, medical history, and physical examinations.
Monitor patients closely during their stay in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), managing airway management, and acute pain control.
Administer medications and IV infusions with precision, adhering to aseptic techniques and hospital protocols.
Document patient care activities accurately and efficiently.
Collaborate with surgical teams, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care plans and discharge instructions.
Implement infection control practices and ensure sterile processing standards are maintained throughout all procedures.
Provide education to patients and their families regarding post-operative care, medication management, and recovery expectations.

Qualifications

Valid RN license with current registration; experience working in perioperative or critical care settings preferred.
Hands-on experience with IV insertion, medication administration, catheter care, and aseptic technique.
Knowledge of anesthesia recovery protocols, airway management, ventilator support, and acute pain management strategies.
Experience working in hospital environments including PACU, ICU, OR, or trauma centers; Level I or II trauma center experience highly desirable.
Strong assessment skills with the ability to perform physical examinations and interpret laboratory results.
Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration within multidisciplinary teams and patient education.
Ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism while maintaining attention to detail.
BLS required upon hire. ACLS and PALS obtained within 6 months of hire.
