The Role
A Design Manager is responsible for assisting the Head of Design in maintaining design intent at all existing Bunkhouse properties, the planning and execution of Capital Expenditure projects and purchases at properties, overseeing FF&E at new properties post hotel design/opening. In addition to assisting the Head of Design with various tasks, the Design Manager is also responsible for keeping the design department organized, managing vendors, purchasing, and ordering & returning samples.
The person in this position must have excellent communication skills, the ability to resolve conflict and a thorough understanding of Bunkhouse policies. Furthermore, a Design Manager has the responsibility of developing and maintaining the hotel’s culture, values and reputation in the public eye, and with all staff, guests, vendors and partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos, and verbal instruction
- Establish and maintain liaison as required with all properties, committees, and employees
- Review and assess vendor proposals
- Direct the activities of on-site and off-site consultants
- Assist in preparing preliminary construction and FF&E estimates, bid requests, de-scope, and proposals for small projects at properties
- Support the Head of Design and Director of Design in daily tasks
- Coordinate small projects for Bunkhouse properties
- Maintain materials library & resource catalogs
- Maintain project binders and folders
- Assist Head of Design in project meeting schedules, agendas & minutes
- Assist Head of Design in project travel schedules & arrangements
- Assist Head of Design with expense reports
- Responsible for design boards and image research
- Responsible for placing supply and sample orders
- Responsible for presentations
- Organize the Bunkhouse digital photo library and maintaining presentation archives
- Responsible for product and materials sourcing
- Purchase FF&E and OS&E
- Act as a liaison between vendors, properties, and Design Director
- Maintain project budgets & invoices
- Ensure open lines of communication with staff, all departments and upper management at all times via email, logbooks, meetings, etc., to ensure all needs of the company are met
