The Opportunity
PWR is on the lookout for a CNC machinist to join us in creating our world class cooling technology.
You will be a part of an experienced team and will ensure all parts meet quality standards through level 1 inspections and checks.
The ideal candidate would be someone who is used to working in a high-speed machining environment, with direct experience in aluminium surface and feature machining of complex components for the Aerospace or Motorsport industry.
The role includes verification of setup sheets and the proving out of new programs in a First Off situation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the regular maintenance and cleaning of machines to ensure optimal performance
- Set up, operate, and maintain 3 and 5 AXIS CNC machines, including Mazak Variaxis and HAAS CNC Milling Machines
- Interpret and execute technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Verify setup sheets and prove out new programs
- Demonstrate proficiency in machining various materials, with an emphasis on aluminum surface and feature machining
- Adapt to different machining processes and requirements for Aerospace or Motorsport components
- Conduct quality checks on machined parts to ensure they meet specified tolerances and standards
- Perform Level 1 inspections, identifying and rectifying any defects or non-conformities
- Regularly inspect and maintain machinery to ensure optimal performance
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor machine issues, escalating complex problems to maintenance personnel
- Maintain accurate records of machining operations, including setup sheets, inspection reports, and machine logs
- Report production data and quality metrics to supervisors
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and product quality
- Provide feedback and suggestions for improving machining processes and techniques
Key Competencies:
- Demonstrates a strong desire to acquire new skills and knowledge
- Industry qualification in an Engineering discipline or similar level qualification
- Recognized apprenticeship or equivalent experience as a time-served machinist
- Skilled in the operation and programming of 3 and 5 AXIS CNC machines, including Mazak Variaxis and HAAS CNC Milling Machines
- Proficient in machining complex components in a high-speed machining environment
- Ensures precision and accuracy in all machining operations
- Meticulously inspects work to maintain high-quality standards
