Title:  Interventional Radiologic Technologist

Report: Clinical Manager

Location: Newark, DE and Milford, DE Access Centers

Position Type: Part time, Non-Exempt

General Work Hours: Monday – Thursday , 8 hour shift with a 30 min break

Nephrology Associates, P.A. is the largest single specialty practice caring for patients with kidney disease and hypertension in the State of Delaware and Cecil County, MD. Established in 1974, Nephrology Associates has earned the trust of patients and the respect of the local medical community for nearly five decades. Our board-certified nephrologists and mid-level providers are experts in the management of hypertension, chronic kidney disease, acute renal failure, end-stage renal disease, kidney transplantation, kidney stones, and other kidney-related disorders.

Position Summary

The Interventional Radiologic Technologist plays a critical role in providing exceptional patient care during the imaging and diagnostic process. This role works closely with our physicians, nurses, and office staff to prepare patients for imaging and ensures patient safety. The Radiologic Technologist must be ARRT certified, possess a strong understanding of advanced imaging equipment operations and imaging procedures. This position will be based in our Milford Access Center, with the ability to support shifts at the Newark location.

Key Responsibilities

To perform in this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each key responsibility satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

Prepare patients for procedures, including explanation of the imaging procedure to ensure their comfort and understanding.
Verify patient history, consent, labs, and documentation.
Conduct radiation safety measures to protect patients and staff.
Operate and maintain C-arm imaging equipment using ALARA principles and established protocols.
Prepare imaging results, updating patient records and notify attending physicians and providers.
Set up sterile procedure trays and assist with patient transport, sterile prep and draping.
Work closely with providers; assist throughout procedures and the review of imaging results.
Provide Basic Life Support, assist during emergency codes, and help train students or other healthcare staff.
Maintain clean, neat and well stocked exam rooms and lab area.
Clean and disinfect procedure rooms and equipment per protocol between cases.
Assist patients, providers and administrative staff to ensure efficient and effective care.
Accurately document procedure codes in PACS and collaborate with billing to clarify or resolve charge-related questions.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of radiation protection and safety.
Work consistently with HIPPA and OSHA regulations.

Education and Experience Requirements

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in radiologic technology or related field preferred.

Minimum Experience: One year of Radiology Technologist experience required

Required Certifications:

American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Valid Delaware License with the Office of Radiation Control

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

General knowledge of health care terminology.
Experience with MS Office Suite and Electronic medical records (EMR)
Excellent patient care skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients, coworkers, and healthcare professionals.
Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and hygiene practices are required. 
Must have reliable transportation to travel to other Vascular Access Center.  
Criminal background investigation and drug testing required.

Physical Requirements

Extended periods of walking and standing.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Occasionally requires the ability to push wheelchair-bound patients to exam rooms.
Must be able to support up to 75 pounds to reposition, transfer, and ambulate patients safely.  
Able to carry up to 45lbs frequently, and 50lbs occasionally.
Able to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and reach occasionally.
Adequate hearing is required for communication, cues indicating patient status, and medical equipment alarms.
