Sous Chef

Location: High Point, NC

Join the Opening Team at Smitty & Pearl'sSmitty & Pearl's is seeking an experienced, passionate, and driven Sous Chef to join our culinary leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity to help open one of High Point's premier dining and entertainment destinations, featuring three unique concepts: The Jungle Bar, Umbo, and Siren.As Sous Chef, you'll work alongside the Executive Chef and culinary leadership team to deliver exceptional food, maintain the highest culinary standards, and develop a culture built on teamwork, accountability, and excellence. We're looking for a leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys mentoring others, and takes pride in creating memorable guest experiences.

Responsibilities

Assist in leading daily kitchen operations while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation.
Supervise, coach, and develop line cooks, prep cooks, and dish team members.
Lead by example through professionalism, organization, and a hands-on leadership style.
Ensure recipes, portioning, plating, and food preparation standards are consistently followed.
Assist with scheduling, labor management, and controlling food costs.
Monitor inventory levels, receive deliveries, and maintain proper product rotation and storage.
Maintain compliance with all health department regulations, food safety standards, and sanitation procedures.
Assist with menu execution, seasonal features, and culinary innovation.
Work closely with front-of-house leadership to ensure seamless service and exceptional guest experiences.
Help train new team members and support ongoing culinary development.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
Step into leadership responsibilities in the Executive Chef's absence.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of Sous Chef or culinary leadership experience in a high-volume restaurant.
Strong leadership and team development skills.
Excellent knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen operations.
Experience with inventory management, ordering, and food cost control.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
ServSafe Certification preferred (or ability to obtain upon hire).
