Full Job Description

Job Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Rural Development and/or Tax Credit Community Manager to oversee the management of affordable housing communities. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) programs, Rural Development regulations, and property management best practices. This role involves ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local housing laws while providing exceptional customer service to residents. The Community Manager will coordinate leasing activities, maintain property operations, and foster positive relationships with tenants, vendors, and regulatory agencies.

Duties

Manage daily operations of affordable housing property, ensuring compliance with LIHTC, Rural Development, and Fair Housing regulations.
Oversee leasing processes including property tours, application processing, and lease signing using property management software such as Yardi and OneSite.
Maintain accurate data entry, filing, and record-keeping related to tenant files, contracts, and legal documentation.
Conduct regular property inspections and coordinate property maintenance and facilities management to ensure safety and quality standards are met.
Handle conflict management with tenants or vendors professionally and efficiently.
Negotiate lease agreements, renewals, and contracts while upselling additional services or amenities when appropriate.
Ensure legal administrative tasks are completed in accordance with landlord-tenant law and other applicable regulations.
Foster positive customer relationships through excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills.
Collaborate with leasing agents to optimize occupancy rates through effective sales strategies and tenant retention initiatives.
Coordinate with legal teams on compliance issues related to contracts and Fair Housing laws.

Qualifications

Proven experience in property management, preferably within affordable housing or LIHTC programs.
Strong knowledge of LIHTC, Rural Development, Landlord-Tenant Law, Fair Housing regulations, and related legal frameworks.
Proficiency in property management software such as Yardi, OneSite, or similar platforms.
Experience with real estate administrative tasks including data entry, filing, contracts management, and office procedures.
Excellent customer service skills coupled with professional phone etiquette.
Ability to negotiate effectively and manage conflict resolution tactfully.
Background in legal administrative work or real estate administrative experience is highly desirable.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently.
Facilities management knowledge including property maintenance coordination is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to upsell services or amenities to residents or prospects. This position offers an engaging opportunity for a dedicated professional passionate about affordable housing management while ensuring compliance and fostering community well-being.
