Job Duties
Virginia Military Institute is looking for a Warehouse Assistant to help assist Physical Plant processes and procedures.
Job Duties:
- Coordinate delivery of freight and movement of surplus property with customers both internal and external to the department.
- Issue materials to maintenance teams and tracks inventory within Computerized Maintenance Management System, Megamation.
- Coordinate delivery of requested material through work order system
- Support Supply mission by assisting with annual inventory audit.
- Utilize the CMMS Megamation to account for inventory and to recover the costs through the work order system.
- Receive a variety of shipments for VMI, verifying and entering receipt of each shipment into CMMS inventory system.
- Compare packing slips against purchase orders, count items for verification, and indicate any discrepancies.
- Maintain inventory control for all items ensuring that all items are properly identified and readily accessible.
- Offload freight and stock shelves in central location as each delivery arrives; assist in general maintenance and clean-up of stockroom.
- Operate the forklift to pull, load, and move merchandise and materials.
- Operate a delivery vehicle with liftgate.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience with computers a must
- Frequent lifting and moving of packages required.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
Additional Considerations
- Knowledge of warehouse operations preferred to utilize computerized inventory control system.
- High school diploma or GED.
