Job Summary

Flint & Walling is a family-owned engineering & manufacturing-driven company that has been an icon within the water pump industry for over 150 years.

Buyer 2 is an experienced procurement/purchasing agent with strong analytical and communication skills. Role reports to Purchasing Supervisor based in Kendallville, Indiana. The Purchasing Department is linked directly to the Corporate Supply Chain team and is responsible for assisting the corporate procurement teams/divisions as needed/directed by Supply Chain Manager. Buyer 2 role is an in-person employee, working on-site Monday-Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Experience: 3 to 5+ years in purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain roles is required. Manufacturing procurement experience preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field is a plus.
Technical Literacy: Proficiency in MS Excel and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems such as Oracle, Syteline, or Microsoft D365.
Core Competencies: Strong analytical capabilities, commercial judgment, and exceptional communication skills (verbal and written).

Role Purpose and Responsibilities

You are directly responsible for cooperating with all other company personnel and assisting them, whenever possible, to help them to succeed, as well as to ensure the company’s success and perform other duties as directed.
MRP, MRRs, PARs, limited ECO work. Works alongside team to manage MRO (Maintenance, Repair, Operations) requests.
Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.
Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.
Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.
Purchases materials, supplies, and services at the most favorable terms for the organization.
Qualifies vendors, evaluates bids, and negotiates prices and terms for purchased goods and services.
Tracks purchases, monitors vendor quality, and maintains a current database of vendor information. This may include management of Supplier Agreements (Material agreements, pricing structures, etc.) Buyer is responsible for conducting vendor meetings (in person and/or remote/Teams) as directed.
Collaborates with Trade Compliance to maintain accurate HTS code/Country of Origin/tariff rates in shared files, ERP system, etc. for Customer Border Protection compliance.
Consistently communicates with relevant departments such as Materials (Receiving/Shipping/Logistics), Trade Compliance, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing to ensure on-time and accurate delivery of product.
