The Brain Injury Association of Ohio (BIAOH) is a statewide, mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to creating better futures for Ohioans impacted by brain injury. Through advocacy, education, support programs, and community engagement, we work to ensure survivors and caregivers are never alone on their journey.
We are seeking a full-time Community Events & Fundraising Coordinator to play a key role in expanding our fundraising capacity—particularly through event-based fundraising and corporate partnerships—while strengthening community engagement across Ohio.
Position Summary
The Community Events & Fundraising Coordinator is responsible for planning, executing, and growing fundraising events while actively cultivating corporate sponsors, partners, and community funders. This position works closely with the Executive Director and internal team to drive revenue through signature events, peer-to-peer fundraising, sponsorships, and community-based initiatives.
This is a highly visible, externally facing role that requires strong relationship-building skills, excellent organization, and the ability to manage multiple events and fundraising timelines simultaneously. Frequent statewide travel is required.
Key Responsibilities: Fundraising & Revenue Development
- Lead the planning and execution of event-based fundraising initiatives, including walks/runs, community fundraisers, special events, and donor engagement activities.
- Identify, cultivate, and steward corporate sponsors, community partners, and local funders.
- Develop sponsorship packages and fundraising materials in collaboration with leadership.
- Support peer-to-peer and third-party fundraising efforts.
- Track fundraising performance, sponsorships, and revenue metrics; prepare reports and summaries.
- Maintain accurate records in donor and fundraising databases.
Special Events Management
- Plan and manage multiple fundraising and community events annually from concept through execution.
- Develop event budgets, timelines, and logistics plans.
- Coordinate vendors, venues, volunteers, and event-day operations.
- Ensure consistent branding, messaging, and mission alignment across all events.
- Collaborate with communications staff or contractors to promote events and fundraising campaigns.
Corporate & Community Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with businesses, community organizations, and local leaders.
- Represent BIAOH at community events, meetings, and networking opportunities.
- Identify opportunities for cause-marketing partnerships and workplace giving.
- Support volunteer engagement related to fundraising events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2–4 years of experience in fundraising, event management, development, or community engagement.
- Demonstrated experience securing event sponsorships or corporate support.
- Strong organizational, project management, and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with a small team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and donor/fundraising management systems.
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout Ohio and work occasional evenings/weekends for events.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time during events, meetings, and outreach activities.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30–40 pounds (e.g., event supplies, signage, materials, boxes).
- Ability to set up and break down event materials, including tables, displays, banners, and equipment.
- Ability to travel throughout Ohio, including driving to event locations and transporting materials.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as required for events.
- Ability to work in a variety of environments, including indoor and outdoor settings, and in varying weather conditions during events.
- Passion for BIAOH’s mission and working with individuals impacted by brain injury.

- Experience with peer-to-peer fundraising platforms.
- Knowledge of Ohio-based corporate and community networks.
- Creative mindset for growing fundraising events and sponsorships.
- Experience working in a statewide or multi-event nonprofit environment.
