Full Job Description

Position Summary

The primary focus of this position is to support the human resources department through the management, administration, analysis and action planning of compensation, benefits, HR compliance and the HRIS system. This position serves as a strategic partner to support compensation and benefit strategies to ensure organizational effectiveness. This position works collaboratively with internal and external resources to support the established goals. The Human Resources Manager will deliver high quality services in a manner consistent with the mission and values of our client and complies with applicable state and federal laws and regulations.

Job Responsibilities

Oversee employee benefits strategy and vendor management. Manage all enrollment activities, including open enrollment, new hires, and qualifying events. Educate employees, respond to inquiries, process documentation, manage COBRA with third-party vendor, ensure compliance filings including Form 5500, and reconcile monthly vendor invoices.
Oversee fiduciary responsibilities for the 401(k) plan, including participant eligibility, compliance, census preparation, audit support, and Form 5500 submission. Participate in the 401(k) Plan Oversight Committee, maintain meeting minutes, provide employee education, and monitor regulatory changes.
Manage organizational compensation structure, including wage bands and market analysis. Lead the annual merit increase process, educate managers, calculate cost impacts, secure approvals, and advise recruiting on hire-in rates outside standard ranges.
Monitor and evaluate regulatory changes impacting compensation, including FLSA and state-level updates. Assess impact and recommend actions to maintain compliance with classifications, wages, and exemptions.
Oversee HR compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA, and unemployment. Manage leave programs, workers’ compensation and OSHA reporting, and unemployment claims and hearings.
Support employee relations activities including investigations, meetings, documentation, and policy administration. Partner with HR leadership to maintain and update the employee handbook and policies. Collaborate with legal counsel as needed to mitigate risk.
Oversee the HRIS system and generate reports as requested. Support payroll processing with bi-weekly audits and serve as payroll backup.
Partner with the HR team to align total rewards programs with retention strategies.
Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees on compensation, benefits, compliance, and employee relations matters.

Job Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related field or equivalent work experience required.
Five years progressive HR experience with emphasis in benefits, compensation and compliance highly desired.
Possess a valid driver’s license and have an excellent driving record.
Strong knowledge of employment law and regulatory requirements.
High degree of interpersonal relations skills and capable of relating to a variety of people and personalities. Considerable initiative, judgment and leadership skills needed.
Reliable attendance and dependability are required in this position. Must be an independent thinker and a self-starter.
Able to maintain confidentiality.
Organized and possess strong time-management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
