Full Job Description

Joseph’s House for Women is committed to cultivating a community where every person is treated with dignity, compassion, and respect. We provide a safe and nurturing home for pregnant and parenting women and their children experiencing homelessness, offering educational, occupational, psychosocial, and spiritual support rooted in the Catholic tradition. Through authentic relationships and accompaniment, we walk alongside women as they pursue their own path toward healing, stability, and independence.

Position Summary

The Director of Residential Services provides leadership and oversight for the residential operations of Joseph’s House for Women. This position is responsible for ensuring a safe, structured, supportive, and mission-driven environment for residents while managing residential staff, facility operations, and program implementation.

Working closely with the Executive Director, Assistant Director of Operations, Case Management team, and other program staff, the Director promotes resident success, staff development, operational excellence, and the overall fulfillment of the Joseph’s House mission.

The Director of Community Residential Services is expected to: Lead with integrity, compassion, and accountability.Promote a resident-centered environment that values dignity, responsibility, and personal growth. Support teamwork, collaboration, and professional development among staff. Demonstrate stewardship of agency resources and commitment to the mission of Joseph’s House.

Key Responsibilities

Residential Operations (45%)

· Oversee the daily operation of the residential program and ensure a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for residents and their children.

· Provide leadership and supervision to residential staff and ensure adequate staffing coverage.

· Serve as a liaison between residential staff and other agency departments to promote effective communication and problem resolution.

· Ensure compliance with agency policies, procedures, and safety standards.

· Participate in agency on-call and emergency response responsibilities as assigned.

Staff Leadership and Development (15%)

· Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate residential staff.

· Develop staff schedules and monitor timesheets.

· Provide coaching, guidance, and professional development opportunities for staff.

· Foster a positive team culture built on accountability, collaboration, and respect.

Resident Services (15%)

· Collaborate with Case Management and program staff regarding resident intake, orientation, goal planning, and program participation.

· Support the implementation of programs and services that promote resident growth, stability, and independence.

· Maintain confidentiality and ensure respectful treatment of all residents.

· Assist in monitoring program outcomes and identifying opportunities for improvement.

Facility Management (10%)

· Coordinate facility maintenance, repairs, and inspections in collaboration with facilities staff.

· Oversee household inventory and supplies.

· Ensure the residence, grounds, and furnishings are maintained in a clean, safe, and functional condition.

· Assist with volunteer service projects and facility improvement initiatives.

Program Administration (15%)

· Assist with the development and implementation of residential policies and procedures.

· Participate in organizational planning and goal-setting activities.

· Prepare reports and maintain documentation as required.

· Support agency initiatives that advance the mission and strategic goals of Joseph’s House.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time, salaried position. The schedule will include occasional evening or weekend responsibilities and participation in an on-call rotation to support residential operations and respond to emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Minimum of three years of experience in human services, residential programs, shelter operations, or a related field.

· Supervisory or management experience preferred.

· Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

· Valid New York State Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
