Compensation: $100,000–$120,000 annually, depending on experience, plus gross profit bonus opportunities
Status: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM, with flexibility as project demands require
General Description
The Estimator Tier 3 serves as an advanced estimating leader responsible for complex, high-exposure, and non-routine claims. In addition to writing and negotiating estimates, this role provides department-wide support, mentors teammates, and operates with an ownership mentality that extends beyond individual job expectations. This role is expected to think several steps ahead, anticipate claim and operational impacts, and act as a trusted knowledgeable resource for the broader estimating team.
Position Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Lead estimating efforts on complex, high-risk, sensitive, or non-routine fire restoration claims requiring advanced scoping and strategic judgment.
- Meet with adjusters, customers, consultants, and internal team members to walk job scopes and align repair expectations.
- Prepare, review, and negotiate detailed estimates and supplements with a high degree of accuracy, strategy, and professionalism.
- Anticipate how claim decisions may affect approvals, production flow, profitability, staffing, schedule, and customer experience.
- Organize job information, maintain clean file documentation, and follow department workflows and turnaround expectations.
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and technical support to Tier 1 and 2 estimators to raise department consistency and capability.
- Coordinate with project management, drafting/engineering, accounting, and administrative teams to ensure estimate inputs are accurate and complete for repair execution.
- Support the estimating manager with quality control, process improvements, training initiatives, and department standards.
- Track estimate status, follow up on approvals, respond to questions, and keep active files moving without unnecessary delay.
- Model urgency, accountability, professionalism, and a solutions-first mindset for the department.
- Communicate professionally with customers, adjusters, and teammates while representing the company well.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Education/Experience Requirements
- 5+ years of restoration estimating, insurance repair estimating, reconstruction estimating, or similarly complex construction estimating experience required.
- Strong background in complex claim handling, supplement strategy, negotiation, and advanced damage scoping.
- Advanced proficiency in Xactimate and strong command of supporting documentation and measurement tools.
- Deep understanding of construction methods, repair sequencing, code-related requirements, and project risk.
- Proven ability to solve problems independently, make sound decisions, and lead through ambiguity.
- Strong mentoring, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
- Ability to pass company background screening and any site-specific access requirements.

- Raises the capability of the broader estimating team through mentorship, coaching, and real-time support.
- Looks multiple steps ahead and identifies claim, operational, and client impacts before they become problems.
- Contributes to departmental strength well beyond personal estimate production through leadership and ownership.
