Title: Doula - NHMP Norwalk Midwifery Services - Per Diem (Office and call shifts 24/7, nights, weekends, holidays)
Summary: Provides emotional and physical support to expectant birthing people and their families throughout the prenatal, labor & birth, and postpartum process (Inpatient & Outpatient). The Doula will see patients in our OB office for prenatal and postpartum visits as well as attend deliveries as a birth doula on Labor and Delivery at the hospital.
- Per Diem Doulas have a 24-hour call (days/nights/weekends/holidays). When called into a birth they stay with the patient through the labor and delivery.
Responsibilities:-
Help birthing people prepare for labor and childbirth, including providing physical and emotional support during labor and delivery.

Provide breastfeeding support and assistance with newborn care.

Educate and inform expecting parents on birthing options and techniques.

Assist with creating and following a postpartum plan.

Assist with postnatal care and recovery.

Make appropriate referrals to community resources and other professionals.

See patients in the Northwell market obstetric office for prenatal and postpartum visits.

Attend births at Northwell market hospitals as a doula

Attends monthly staff meetings, participates in committee meetings.

Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to position and employment at Northwell Health.
Performs other duties as assigned

Doula Requirements and Qualifications:

Completion of a Doula certification program (in person preferred) that meets requirements for Connecticut/New York Medicaid Doula Reimbursement.
- High School Diploma or GED.

Basic computer literacy.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

Compassionate and caring attitude.

Able to work effectively with clients and other professionals.

Reliable and on time for work.
Preferred Skills:

Experience as a Doula
-
Knowledge of childbirth techniques, labor support techniques, and postpartum care
-
CPR/AED training (can be completed on the job)
Physical & mental factors:
Physical: Sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time. May exert up to 50LBs force
Mental: Moderate stress
Salary Range: $26.48 - $50.49 hourly, commensurate with experience.
