Position Summary
The Laboratory Technician is responsible for supporting daily laboratory production, product fulfillment, inventory management, documentation, and operational excellence.
In addition to laboratory responsibilities, this individual will play an important role in implementing a new manufacturing and inventory management software platform, helping establish scalable systems that will support the company's continued growth.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys both hands-on laboratory work and process improvement, and who takes pride in building organized, efficient operations.
Primary ResponsibilitiesLaboratory Production & Order Fulfillment
- Accurately weigh, measure, blend, bottle, label, package, and prepare botanical ingredients and proprietary formulations for customer orders.
- Follow detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while maintaining exceptional accuracy and consistency.
- Maintain organized production schedules and ensure customer orders are completed accurately and on time.
- Verify product identity, lot numbers, quantities, and labeling before shipment.
- Maintain detailed batch records and production documentation.
Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate inventory of raw materials, packaging components, laboratory supplies, and finished goods.
- Conduct routine cycle counts and periodic physical inventories.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify management when replenishment is needed.
- Organize laboratory inventory to maximize efficiency and accuracy.
- Assist with receiving, inspecting, and properly storing incoming materials.
Manufacturing & Inventory Software Implementation
One of the primary initiatives for this position will be helping implement and manage a new manufacturing and inventory management software platform.
Responsibilities include:
- Serve as the primary laboratory team member during implementation.
- Assist with system setup, testing, data entry, and validation.
- Build and maintain accurate inventory records, Bills of Materials (BOMs), product information, and raw material records.
- Help establish standardized workflows for purchasing, receiving, inventory control, production, lot tracking, and order fulfillment.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency through better systems and automation.
- Assist with training future team members on software and laboratory workflows.
Documentation & Quality Systems
- Maintain and continuously improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Maintain accurate production records and inventory documentation.
- Assist with documenting proprietary formulations, manufacturing procedures, and internal laboratory processes.
- Ensure all documentation is complete, organized, and maintained according to company standards.
- Participate in ongoing process improvement initiatives.
Laboratory Operations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional laboratory environment.
- Properly clean and maintain laboratory equipment and workstations.
- Follow established safety procedures and good laboratory practices.
- Support a culture focused on quality, organization, accountability, and continuous improvement.
QualificationsRequired
- Basic laboratory experience through employment, education, internships, or research.
- Excellent organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Comfortable performing repetitive work requiring precision and consistency.
- Strong written documentation skills.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods during production activities.
Preferred
- Experience working with botanical extracts, essential oils, flavors, fragrances, natural ingredients, or similar materials.
- Experience with inventory management.
- Experience maintaining production records or batch documentation.
- Experience writing or updating Standard Operating Procedures.
- Experience with ERP, MRP, manufacturing, inventory, warehouse management, or quality management software.
- Strong Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets skills.

Compensation & Engagement
- Competitive hourly compensation based on experience.
- This position is initially expected to begin as an independent contractor (1099) engagement.
- After approximately six months, the company expects to review business needs, the scope of the role, applicable legal requirements, and individual performance to determine the most appropriate long-term engagement structure.
