In order to qualify for this position, you must meet both the OPM's Basic Requirement and Minimum Qualification.
BASIC REQUIREMENT - You must meet one of the following:
A. Bachelor's degree in archival science or bachelor's degree with a major that includes 18 semester hours in archival science, history and/or in political science or government, and 12 semester hours in one or any combination of the following: archival science, history, American civilization, economics, political science, public administration, or government, -OR-
B. Combination of education and experience - at least 30 semester hours that included courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education (professional experience must have been in archival science, or in a directly related field of work such as history that involved the collection, appraisal, analysis, or synthesis of information having historical or archival values).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION - You must possess one of the following:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the duties of this position. Examples of this experience may include activities such as catalog information according to archival and record management standards; screen, organize, select, arrange, and/or rearrange records; collect and correlate data and information derived from a number of sources; prepare cross-references, finding aids, and related instructional material; provide adequate reference service from a system of records; generate reports from documents and records management systems. -OR-
B. One full academic year of graduate education related to the occupation (one year of full-time graduate education is defined as 18 semester hours). -OR-
C.Equivalent combination of experience and education that, together, equal 100% of the qualification standards listed above when combined.

Non-Competitive Rehire Eligibility: Temporary seasonal employees can only maintain their non-competitive rehire eligibility if they work no more than a combined total of Temporary NTE less than 1039 hours anywhere in the National Park Service (NPS) within their established service year. Accordingly, non-competitive rehire eligibility allows for re-appointment to the same position or another position appropriate for temporary appointment with the same qualification requirements (5 CFR 316.402[b][7]), based on series and grade, anywhere in the major subdivision (NPS).
If you have held a temporary seasonal appointment in the past 12 months and have already worked the maximum temporary appointment less than 1039 hours during that period, you are still welcome to apply. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is sedentary, but at times requires travel to repositories of information, and may require visits to remote sites which require walking or riding over rough, uneven surfaces. Documentary research and report writing work is sedentary, entails the ability to concentrate and write for long periods of time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Most work is performed in offices, archives, and libraries. Assignments may entail work with dusty records or objects.
