Position Overview
The Sales Manager is responsible the client relationship from initial inquiry through project completion. As the primary face of the company for their assigned clients, the Sales Manager guides each client through the sales process, remains involved throughout the project, and completes the relationship with a post-project walkthrough before invoicing.
This role combines relationship-based sales with ongoing client care. The Sales Manager is responsible for understanding each client's project and goals, conducting site measures and consultations, preparing accurate estimates, following up with prospective clients, converting qualified leads into signed projects, and maintaining communication with the client throughout the life of the project.
The Sales Manager works closely with the Owner/Operations Manager and the Project Coordinator to ensure that what was discussed and promised during the sales process is carried through to the completed project.
This is not a high-pressure sales position. We believe strong sales come from listening, educating, communicating clearly, and helping clients feel confident in their decisions.
Reporting Structure
· Reports directly to Owner/Operations Manager
· Works closely with Project Coordinator & Project Leads
· Serves as the primary client-facing contact for assigned projects from initial inquiry through post-project walkthrough
· Owner/Operations Manager oversees Sales Managers, Project Coordinator, and overall project scheduling
Sales & Client Responsibilities
· Lead Management & Client Communication
o Respond to assigned leads and prospective client inquiries in a timely and professional manner
o Communicate with prospective and active clients via phone, email, text, and Jobber
o Learn about each client's project, priorities, budget, timeline, and overall goals
o Build genuine relationships with clients and provide a welcoming, helpful experience
o Maintain consistent communication throughout the sales and project process
o Keep lead and client information organized and up-to-date in Jobber
· Client Appointments & Site Measures
o Conduct in-home site measures and project consultations
o Conduct showroom appointments with prospective clients
o Accurately measure project areas and document necessary job details
o Take and organize job site photos
o Identify project conditions that may affect scope, pricing, or installation
o Discuss flooring options, refinishing options, colors, products, patterns, stairs, and other applicable project details
o Help clients understand their options without creating a high-pressure sales environment
· Estimating & Proposals
o Create detailed and accurate estimates based on site measurements, project scope, product selections, and company pricing
o Ensure estimates accurately reflect labor, materials, subcontracted work, and applicable project details
o Communicate with vendors or internal team members when pricing or product information is needed
o Present estimates clearly and answer client questions regarding scope and pricing
o Revise estimates as needed based on client selections or scope changes
o Maintain appropriate project margins when developing estimates
· Sales Follow-Up & Closing
o Consistently follow up on outstanding estimates and active sales opportunities
o Answer questions and help clients work through decisions that may be preventing them from moving forward
o Identify opportunities to increase project value when additional products or services genuinely benefit the client
o Convert qualified leads into signed projects
o Send contracts and collect required signatures and deposits
o Maintain an organized pipeline of active leads, estimates, follow-ups, and sold projects
o Follow up with leads that have gone quiet, when appropriate
o Help identify why projects are won or lost and use that information to improve the sales process
· Revenue Growth
o Contribute directly to company revenue growth through strong lead management, follow-up, and sales conversion
o Work toward established individual and company sales goals
o Monitor personal sales performance and conversion trends
o Identify opportunities to improve lead conversion and average project value
o Maintain a balance between revenue growth, project profitability, and a positive client experience
· Active Project Client Management
o Remain the primary face of the company for assigned clients throughout their project
o Conduct pre-job walkthroughs with the client and assigned Project Lead prior to the start of each project
o Maintain appropriate communication with clients while work is in progress
o Work closely with the Operations Manager and Project Coordinator regarding project details, client expectations, and changes
o Communicate client questions, concerns, or requested changes to the appropriate internal team member
o Ensure client expectations established during the sales process are accurately communicated to the production team
o Help address client concerns promptly and professionally
o Maintain awareness of project progress so clients receive knowledgeable and consistent communication
o Document relevant client communication and project updates in Jobber
o Escalate operational, scheduling, or significant project concerns to the Operations Manager as needed
· Project Completion & Client Follow-Through
o Conduct post-project walkthroughs with assigned clients
o Review completed work with the client and identify any remaining questions or concerns
o Document punch-list or follow-up items and communicate them to the Operations Manager and Project Coordinator
o Ensure outstanding project items are appropriately documented prior to final invoicing
o Provide applicable floor care, maintenance, and warranty information
o Ensure the client feels informed and cared for through the final stage of their project
o Coordinate with the appropriate internal team member once the project is ready for final invoicing
o Help maintain the long-term client relationship and encourage reviews and referrals when appropriate
· Internal Coordination
o Provide complete and accurate project information once a project is sold
o Ensure project scope, selections, pricing, client expectations, measurements, photos, and relevant notes are properly documented
o Communicate unusual project conditions, client concerns, or special expectations
o Work collaboratively with the Operations Manager and Project Coordinator to prevent information gaps between sales and production
o Communicate scheduling needs to the Operations Manager; project scheduling is managed by the Operations Manager
o Maintain clear boundaries between client-facing responsibilities and internal operational responsibilities while staying informed enough to provide clients with a seamless experience

· Flooring, construction, remodeling, or in-home sales experience preferred

Leads are followed up with consistently, estimates are accurate and timely, sales goals are met, project information is well documented, and communication between Sales and Operations is clear. The Sales Manager contributes to sustainable revenue growth while maintaining the personalized experience and integrity our company is built around.
Compensation & Benefits
· Base Compensation: $25.00/hour
· Commission: 10% of the profit on each project personally sold and managed through completion. Commission is earned on eligible projects for which the Sales Manager owns the client relationship from sale through the post-project walkthrough and is calculated based on the final job profit after project costs are accounted for.
· Schedule: Monday – Friday
· Mileage reimbursement: $0.80/mile for approved business travel
· Performance Bonus: Annual discretionary bonus tied to company profitability and individual contributions
· Birthday Perk: Take a paid day off on your birthday to celebrate, or, if you work that day, receive double pay for the day. (If birthday falls on a weekend or holiday, additional full day pay is given on the next paycheck.)
