Full Job Description

Job Title: Controller / Full-Charge Bookkeeper (Training Provided)
Location: Columbia SC
Full-Time

Compensation: $70,000 – $90,000 + performance incentives

Why This Role Exists

Columbia City Cars is a high-volume dealership within a growing automotive group. We are hiring a disciplined accounting professional to take ownership of the store’s financial operations.

This is not a clerical role. This is a control role.

You do not need automotive experience. You need to be excellent at accounting, detail, and accountability. We will train you on the dealership side.

The Role

You are responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the dealership’s financials.

If the numbers are wrong, it is your responsibility to find out why and fix it.

If something doesn’t reconcile, you do not move on—you resolve it.

You will work directly with ownership and play a key role in keeping the business financially controlled and audit-ready at all times.

Responsibilities

Own full-cycle accounting (AP, AR, general ledger, bank reconciliations)
Produce accurate monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet) on time
Process payroll and maintain complete employee records
Ensure compliance with sales tax, DMV/title, and audit requirements
Monitor cash flow, contracts in transit, and receivables daily
Identify discrepancies immediately and resolve them without delay
Maintain clean, organized, audit-ready books at all times

What We Are Looking For

3+ years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting experience
Strong QuickBooks and Excel skills (pivot tables required)
High attention to detail and personal accountability
Ability to meet deadlines consistently without supervision
Comfortable taking ownership and being held accountable for results

No automotive experience required. We will train you.
