#Part-Time Administrative Assistant

Public Works Department | City of Biddeford

Position Overview

The City of Biddeford Public Works Department is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Part-Time Administrative Assistant to support daily office operations. This position is well suited for an organized and professional individual with strong administrative skills and the ability to work effectively in a busy municipal office environment.

The Public Works office operates Monday through Thursday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This part-time position requires flexibility, with hours ranging from 25 to 40 hours per week depending on workload, department needs, and staff coverage. Weekly hours may vary and are not set in stone.

Key Responsibilities

-Provide general administrative support to the Public Works office
-Answer and direct multi-line phone calls in a professional manner
-Manage fax communications
-Perform accurate data entry
-Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks
-Support day-to-day office operations as needed
-Maintain organized records and office documentation
-Communicate professionally with staff, residents, vendors, and other departments
-Assist with clerical tasks in a fast-paced municipal office setting

Qualifications

-Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
-Prior experience working in an office setting
-Experience with multi-line phone systems
-Experience using fax machines and handling office communications
-Basic knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
-Strong data entry skills with attention to accuracy
-Excellent organizational and communication skills
-Ability to work independently and remain professional
-Positive attitude and willingness to assist where needed
-Professional phone skills
-Ability to adapt to changing workloads and office needs

Schedule

Work Week: Monday through Thursday
Office Hours: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Hours: Approximately 25–40 hours per week, depending on workload and coverage needs
