About A-1 Restoration

A-1 Restoration is an established restoration and reconstruction company serving residential and commercial property owners throughout Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. We specialize in water, fire, storm, mold, and reconstruction services.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to manage the company’s day-to-day accounting functions, maintain accurate financial records, and support ownership and management with timely financial information.

Position Overview

The Senior Bookkeeper will be responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, bank reconciliations, general ledger activity, job costing, and financial reporting.

This position will work closely with ownership, management, project managers, and outside accounting professionals to help maintain accurate records and support the financial operations of the company.

Key Responsibilities

Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Process vendor invoices and customer payments.
Monitor outstanding balances and assist with collections.
Coordinate payroll and maintain accurate payroll records.
Complete bank and credit card reconciliations.
Maintain accurate general ledger entries.
Prepare monthly financial reports for ownership and management.
Maintain job-costing records for restoration and reconstruction projects.
Review project costs, billing status, and job profitability.
Track subcontractor payments, certificates of insurance, and required documentation.
Monitor cash flow and banking activity.
Identify and correct accounting discrepancies.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Coordinate with outside accountants, tax professionals, auditors, and banks.
Assist with year-end reporting, tax preparation, and financial reviews.
Maintain accounting procedures and organized financial records.
Help improve accounting systems and administrative processes.
Maintain confidentiality of company, employee, customer, and financial information.

Qualifications

Significant bookkeeping or accounting experience.
Experience in restoration, construction, insurance repair, or a related industry is strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting.
Experience with construction accounting and job costing is preferred.
Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel.
Ability to prepare and understand basic financial reports.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaborate with management and project teams.
An accounting, finance, or business degree is preferred but not required.
