Inside Sales & Project Coordinator – Building Materials

Marling Lumber Company is seeking a detail-oriented Inside Sales & Project Coordinator to support our Outside Sales Representatives and contractor customers. This role combines estimating, project coordination, material ordering, customer support, and problem-solving to help ensure projects stay on schedule from bid to completion.
What You'll Do
In this important role, you'll serve as a key point of contact for contractors, vendors, and our sales team while helping manage projects from initial quote through final delivery.
Assist contractors and customers when Outside Sales Representatives are unavailable
Review blueprints, plans, and specifications to determine material quantities, sizes, styles, and project requirements
Read and interpret window and door schedules
Prepare bids and quotations for:
- Trusses
- Window packages
- Door packages
- Trim packages
- Millwork packages
- Roofing and siding projects as needed
Order approved materials and coordinate delivery schedules
Track material shipments and communicate delivery timelines with contractors
Schedule pickups, returns, and warranty replacements
Maintain purchase orders, project records, and documentation
Communicate with vendors to place orders, verify availability, and resolve issues
Compare pricing and sourcing options to provide the best value for customers
Coordinate custom millwork orders and specialty product requests
Research and source specialty hardware and non-standard building materials
Support warranty and service requests by locating previous orders and securing replacement materials
Visit jobsites as needed to verify project details and support customers
Deliver materials or pick up products from vendors when necessary
Re-key locks and assist with related hardware services
Maintain organized project files, both digitally and in hard-copy formats
Meet with vendors to stay informed on new products, programs, and industry updates
Provide exceptional customer service and help resolve urgent jobsite issues
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
· Experience in building materials, lumber, millwork, doors, windows, construction, or a related industry
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents
· Strong organizational and project coordination skills
· Excellent customer service and communication abilities
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy
· Computer proficiency and ability to manage project documentation
· Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines
· Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience estimating residential or light commercial construction projects
· Knowledge of windows, doors, millwork, trusses, and specialty building materials
· Familiarity with vendor relationships, purchasing, and inventory coordination
· Experience working directly with contractors and construction professionals
· Understanding of construction terminology and building practices
