Full Job Description

Manitowoc County is seeking qualified and dependable Sign Language Interpreters to provide interpreting services on an on-call basis. Interpreters will facilitate effective communication between Deaf, hard-of-hearing, and hearing individuals in a variety of settings, including meetings, appointments, trainings, community events, educational programs, and other assignments as needed.

Essential Responsibilities

Provide accurate and impartial interpretation between spoken English and American Sign Language (ASL).
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional interpreting standards and ethics.
Arrive prepared and on time for assigned interpreting engagements.
Adapt interpreting services to diverse environments and communication needs.
Collaborate professionally with clients and staff.

Qualifications

Certification through Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent credential.
Must hold a current Wisconsin Sign Language Interpreter License issued by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
