Voces, a non-profit organization dedicated to equipping, empowering, and educating the Latino/Hispanic community in Battle Creek, MI is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as Executive Director of the growing organization. Voces strives to serve the Latino/Hispanic community early on through adulthood through its bilingual preschool, La Escualita, children and youth programming, language services, entrepreneurial education, and more. Voces is seeking a collaborative, visionary leader to continue to grow the organization’s presence and impact and build on the community momentum.
The Executive Director serves as the chief executive officer of Voces, providing visionary leadership to advance the organization's mission of empowering and serving the Latino community in the Battle Creek area. The Executive Director is responsible for strategic planning, organizational management, financial sustainability, community engagement, program oversight, and facility operations. This position works closely with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, community partners, donors, and funders to ensure the continued growth and impact of the organization.
Essential Responsibilities:
● Organizational Leadership
○ Provide strategic leadership and direction to fulfill the mission and long-term vision of Voces.
○ Partner with the Board of Directors to establish organizational priorities, policies, and strategic initiatives.
○ Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, grant requirements, and organizational policies.
○ Foster a positive organizational culture that values collaboration, equity, and community engagement.
● Program Oversight
○ Provide executive oversight of La Escuelita, ensuring high-quality programming, operational excellence, and compliance with applicable regulations.
○ Collaborate with school districts and educational partners to strengthen educational opportunities for Latino families.
○ Evaluate existing programs and identify opportunities for growth and expanded community impact.
● Facility and Property Management
○ Oversee the daily operations and management of the Voces facility.
○ Manage rental spaces, including the event venue, commercial kitchen, and tenant spaces.
○ Negotiate, develop, and oversee contracts with tenants, vendors, maintenance providers, language service providers, and other contractors. ○ Lead facility improvement projects, including renovations, capital improvements, and expansion efforts.
○ Ensure the facility remains safe, welcoming, and financially sustainable. ● Financial Management and Fund Development
○ Develop and oversee the annual operating budget in collaboration with the Board.
○ Provide leadership in financial planning and long-term organizational sustainability.
○ Secure funding through grant research, grant writing, and management of public and private funding opportunities.
○ Cultivate relationships with foundations, corporations, government agencies, and individual donors.
○ Develop and implement fundraising strategies that diversify organizational revenue.
○ Identify and develop earned-income opportunities through facility rentals, business partnerships, and other entrepreneurial initiatives.
● Fundraising and Special Events
○ Lead planning and execution of fundraising events, including Sabor Latino and other signature fundraising initiatives that showcase the organization's facilities, including the commercial kitchen and event space.
○ Develop sponsorship opportunities and donor engagement strategies. ○ Cultivate major donors and community investors.
● Community Relations and Partnership Development
○ Serve as the primary ambassador and spokesperson for Voces. ○ Build and maintain collaborative relationships with school districts, community organizations, businesses, elected officials, and other stakeholders.
○ Represent Voces at community meetings, public events, and collaborative initiatives.
○ Strengthen partnerships that increase services and opportunities for the Latino community.
● Project Management
○ Lead organizational projects from planning through implementation. ○ Oversee facility-related projects, including kitchen operations, event space development, and capital improvements.
○ Coordinate project teams, contractors, budgets, and timelines to ensure successful completion.
● Human Resources
○ Recruit, supervise, mentor, and evaluate staff.
○ Foster professional development and leadership among employees. ○ Ensure compliance with employment policies and best practices.
Qualifications:
● Required:
○ Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, business administration, public administration, education, social work, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
○ Five or more years of progressively responsible leadership experience. ○ Demonstrated experience managing budgets and organizational operations.
○ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
○ Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
○ Experience developing collaborative partnerships across diverse communities.
○ Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
○ Bilingual (English and Spanish)
● Preferred:
○ Experience in nonprofit executive leadership.
○ Demonstrated success in grant writing and grant management. ○ Experience in fundraising, donor cultivation, and special event planning. ○ Experience overseeing facilities, rental properties, or community centers. ○ Experience negotiating and managing contracts.
○ Experience managing capital improvement or renovation projects. ○ Knowledge of nonprofit financial planning and revenue diversification.

Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $90,000–$105,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Voces offers a competitive benefits package that includes a health insurance stipend, a 401(k) retirement plan, paid time off (PTO), and a monthly cell phone stipend.
