The Sample Management Technician is responsible for ensuring that all samples are entered into the appropriate tracking system. Either paper based or Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and made available to the lab staff in a timely manner. Responsible for receipt and entry of samples. Provides timely notification of sample receipt. Maintains chain-of-custody. They will identify and document all discrepancies between client paperwork, LIMS, and sample containers.

Duties and Responsibilities

Performs a variety of sample management duties, including labeling, preparing samples for shipment, transporting to laboratories or Supply Chain, maintaining inventory, and discarding samples as needed

Responsible for the receipt and entry of samples

Conducts aseptic aliquotation of samples to maintain sample integrity

Ensures all sample types are stored according to proper storage requirements

Reviews and matches sample paperwork to physical samples, communicates any discrepancies, and distributes relevant sample information and documentation

Handles, stores, and disposes of hazardous materials safely, following OSHA guidelines and company standard operating procedures (SOPs)

Performs all work in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), company policies, and client requirements

Conducts basic cleaning and maintenance of temperature-controlled chambers and laboratory equipment

Maintains inventory and discards samples according to established SOPs

Completes other related duties as assigned by management
Qualifications

High School diploma and 3+ years of related experience, OR Associate Degree and 2+ years of related experience, OR Bachelor’s Degree

Ability to work in a clean room environment

Excellent organizational skills along with good written and verbal communication skills, and attention to detail

Proficiency in GMP's and ability to follow instructions and work as a team member

Proficiency in office tools is a plus

Proficient with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and other electronic systems

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills

Assists in training of QC laboratory staff, as needed
Working Conditions

Laboratory environment working with chemical reagents and analytical equipment

Personal Protective Equipment must be worn as required

Entry into utilities rooms for water sampling

Clean Room gowning and scrubs

Normal office working conditions: computer, phone, files, fax, copier
