Job Title: Estate Agricultural and Greenhouse Gardener
Job type: full-time, year-round, weekends seasonally
Reports to: Head Gardener, and Agricultural and Greenhouse Foreperson
Position description:
This position is for a full-time agricultural and greenhouse gardener on a private estate in the mid-Cape area of Cape Cod. This position starts in late August, 2026; however, the exact start date can be flexible. The position is full-time, year-round, with weekends required during the growing season. Weekday scheduling can be flexible. This is an opportunity to join a team of dedicated gardeners in maintaining the agricultural plantings and greenhouse collection on our extensive grounds. We use organic horticultural and agricultural practices, and we are committed to practicing ecological land care, as well as to fostering biodiversity in our garden spaces.
Under the general supervision of the Head Gardener and direct supervision of the Agricultural and Greenhouse Foreperson, the Agricultural and Greenhouse Gardener performs agricultural and greenhouse gardening and related work on the grounds, with a specific focus on the cultivation of vegetable, herb, cut flower, tropical, and berry crops.
Primary responsibilities:
- Engage in all aspects of agricultural gardening on the grounds; including seed starting, planting, cultivating, watering, fertilizing, harvesting, storing, pruning, weeding, mulching, staking, pest and disease monitoring and treatment; and other aspects of caring for vegetable, herb, cut flower, tropical, and berry crops.
- Harvest, prepare, and pack produce orders for the Chef.
- Operate and maintain hand and power gardening tools and small equipment.
- Perform general landscape maintenance, such as raking; leaf removal; blowing and sweeping of hardscape; power washing and scrubbing of pots, equipment, hardscape; and litter removal.
- Perform other related duties or special projects as directed.

Required qualifications:
- Interest, passion, and desire to learn about horticulture, agriculture, and ecological gardening
- Enthusiasm for working collaboratively with a team, for maintaining a professional work ethic, and for fostering a communicative, supportive, and rewarding work environment
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive pick-up truck on and off property
- Ability to lift objects of various shapes and sizes weighing in excess of 50 pounds
- Ability to bend, crouch, and lift for multiple hours a day
- Ability to work both individually and collaboratively
- Ability to operate and maintain gardening tools and small equipment safely
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
- Weekend availability
- Must pass a background check
- Must be 18 years of age by time of hiring
Additional qualifications:
- Experience in farming, gardening, propagating, or other agricultural fields
- Knowledge of plant types, plant care, and plant cultivation
- Knowledge of plant pests and diseases
