Summary:
The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for providing strategic assistance to the Foundry EHS Manager to ensure compliance with and effective implementation of all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations at the Pageland Foundry while fostering a proactive, safety-driven culture. This position supports foundry operations by helping identify and mitigate workplace hazards associated with molten metal processes, industrial equipment, material handling, air quality, and environmental compliance. The position reports directly to the Foundry EHS Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Safety Program Support: Assist in the implementation and maintenance of safety programs and initiatives to support a safe working environment in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Inspections and Audits: Conduct regular inspections of foundry operations, equipment, work areas, and processes to identify potential hazards related to molten metal operations, machinery, ergonomics, electrical systems, confined spaces, and chemical handling. Assist with corrective action tracking and completion.
- Incident Reporting and Investigation: Support the tracking, documentation, and investigation of workplace incidents, near misses, injuries, property damage, and environmental events. Participate in root cause analyses and assist in developing corrective and preventive actions.
- Training and Education: Assist in coordinating and delivering employee training on safety procedures, environmental requirements, hazard communication, lockout/tagout, respiratory protection, hearing conservation, PPE usage, emergency response, and other required EHS programs.
- PPE Management: Help monitor PPE inventory and ensure proper selection, distribution, use, and compliance with established safety standards, particularly for foundry-specific hazards.
- Safety Awareness: Collaborate with the Foundry EHS Manager to promote a positive safety culture through safety meetings, communications, observations, audits, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Regulatory Compliance: Assist in ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, SCCOSH, SCDES, and other applicable regulatory requirements and corporate standards.
- Environmental Compliance: Support environmental programs related to air emissions, stormwater management, waste management, hazardous materials, recycling initiatives, and permit compliance.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain EHS records and assist with preparing reports, training documentation, inspections, audits, compliance records, and regulatory submissions as required.
- Emergency Preparedness: Assist with emergency response planning, emergency drills, evacuation procedures, fire prevention activities, and spill response preparedness.
- Contractor Safety: Support contractor onboarding, safety compliance monitoring, and coordination of contractor activities to ensure adherence to facility safety requirements.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in safety committees, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives designed to enhance workplace safety, environmental performance, and operational efficiency.
- Other: Perform other duties as assigned by the Foundry EHS Manager and the Aalberts IPSA EHS Director.
Qualifications: Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- First Aid and CPR Certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Additional certifications such as HAZWOPER, Industrial Hygiene, Fire Safety, Environmental Compliance, or other EHS-related credentials are a plus.
Experience:
- 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, foundry, metals, or heavy manufacturing environment preferred.
- Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and environmental compliance requirements.
- Experience conducting inspections, audits, incident investigations, and safety observations is preferred.
- Experience working in environments involving heavy equipment, industrial machinery, chemical processes, or molten metal operations is a plus.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of workplace safety principles and risk management practices.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental compliance programs.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all organizational levels.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) for reporting, recordkeeping, and data tracking.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism while handling sensitive information.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Pay: $28.00 - $31.00 per hour
