About the Position:
Kairos Worldwide is recruiting an experienced electrician with a strong technical background to serve as a Trainer supporting the Testing and Turnover phase of large-scale electrical construction projects.
This role does not involve day-to-day field electrical work. Instead, you will design and deliver structured training programs that prepare field technicians and craft labor to safely and competently execute the testing, commissioning, and turnover of primary and secondary electrical systems — from switchyards and MV switchgear down to 480V distribution and low-voltage transformers.
You will work closely with project leadership to ensure every technician entering the Testing and Turnover phase is trained on safety protocols, equipment-specific procedures, and company policy before touching live or de-energized systems.
The Trainer will be a dedicated resource supporting phase ensuring crews are fully trained and ready to safely test and commission equipment before turnover to the owner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, update, and deliver a multi-level training curriculum covering safety fundamentals, NFPA 70E compliance, equipment-specific Testing and Turnover Procedures (TTPs), and company policies/procedures.
- Lead classroom and hands-on instruction/3D training sessions covering primary and secondary electrical systems, including—Grounding and Bonding, Switchyard Overview, MV Switchgear Overview, MV Transformer Overview, and 480V Switchgear and Distribution
- PDU/RPP Overview, Design, and Operation
- Administer and evaluate hands-on TTP exercises, ensuring technicians demonstrate competency before sign-off.
- Adapt training materials as equipment, procedures, or project scope change.
What Training Delivery Looks Like:
Training is typically delivered in structured levels. For example:
Level 1 — Safety onboarding, NFPA 70E review, 3D lab overview of primary/secondary systems and arc flash hazards, company policy overview, and LOTO station setup with Live-Dead-Live demonstration.
Level 2 — Deeper dive into policies (MOPs, permits, forms), classroom content on FOD, LOTO, labeling, torquing, grounding/bonding, and breaker integrity, followed by equipment-specific TTP content, hands-on exercises, and a full LOTO exercise.
Candidates should be comfortable building on and refining a curriculum of this depth and rigor.
Required Qualifications
- Journeyman or Master Electrician license (or equivalent verified field experience).
- Hands-on experience with testing and commissioning of medium- and low-voltage electrical systems on large industrial, utility, or mission-critical construction projects (data centers strongly preferred).
- Working knowledge of NFPA 70E, arc flash safety, LOTO procedures, and grounding/bonding practices.
- Familiarity with MV switchgear, MV transformers, 480V switchgear/distribution, PDUs/RPPs, and associated protective and control systems.
- Prior experience training, mentoring, or leading crews — formal instructional experience strongly preferred.
- Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to teach both classroom and hands-on/lab content.
- Willingness to travel to active job sites.
Preferred Qualifications:
- NETA certification or equivalent testing/commissioning credential.
- Experience with 3D training tools, simulation labs, or similar training technology.
- Prior experience developing or delivering TTP (Testing Turnover Procedure) curricula.
- Background with a general contractor, EPC firm, or utility on large-scale mission-critical projects.
- OSHA 30 or equivalent safety certification.
Potential Working Conditions:
- Combination of classroom instruction and active construction site/lab environment.
- May require flexible scheduling to align with project phases and crew availability.
- Travel to project sites as needed [Travel requirements are TBD].
