Estate Gardener / Horticulturist
Norfolk, Massachusetts | $29–$32/hour | Full-Time Seasonal | Benefits
We are seeking a knowledgeable, motivated Estate Gardener / Horticulturist to join our team caring for high-quality residential landscapes and gardens in the Norfolk, Massachusetts area.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with plants, takes pride in fine gardening, and appreciates the craftsmanship involved in maintaining beautiful, established landscapes. We are looking for someone with strong plant knowledge and good hands-on skills who can work independently as well as collaboratively with a professional team.
Responsibilities
- Provide detailed care and maintenance of estate gardens and residential landscapes
- Perform skilled hand pruning of shrubs, ornamentals, perennials, and small trees
- Identify plants and understand their individual cultural and maintenance requirements
- Assist with plant selection, tagging, layout, and installation
- Plant and maintain trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, and other ornamental material
- Recognize common plant health, pest, and cultural issues
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and attention to detail
- Work efficiently and independently when required
- Work cooperatively as part of a professional landscape and horticulture team
Qualifications
- Strong interest in horticulture, plants, and fine gardening
- Good plant identification and horticultural knowledge
- Experience with proper hand-pruning techniques
- Familiarity with professional landscape and garden maintenance practices
- Self-motivated, dependable, and able to manage responsibilities independently
- Previous estate gardening, horticulture, nursery, or landscape experience is highly valued
- Willingness to learn and participate in additional training as needed
- Horticultural certifications, industry credentials, and continuing trade education are a plus
Graduates of the Stockbridge School of Agriculture, Norfolk County Agricultural High School, other agricultural high schools, and horticulture or landscape programs are especially encouraged to apply.
We are also interested in candidates who may not meet every qualification but have a strong horticultural foundation, a good work ethic, and a genuine desire to develop their skills.
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting pay: $29–$32 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
