Position Summary
The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing chemical analyses on a variety of product and environmental sample types while ensuring the timely completion of daily customer testing requirements. This position requires strict adherence to quality control and quality assurance procedures, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
A significant portion of this role will focus on the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and data review of Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) instrumentation for trace metals analysis. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on ICP-MS experience and a strong understanding of analytical chemistry principles, wet chemistry techniques, and laboratory quality systems.

Perform routine and non-routine chemical analyses in accordance with established SOPs, methods, and regulatory requirements.

Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot ICP-MS instrumentation for trace elemental and metals testing.

Prepare samples for ICP-MS analysis, including acid digestion, dilutions, extractions, and other wet chemistry procedures.

Evaluate instrument performance through calibration verification, continuing calibration checks, internal standards, blanks, duplicates, and certified reference materials.

Review and interpret analytical data to ensure validity, accuracy, and compliance with quality standards.

Investigate out-of-specification results and assist with corrective actions when necessary.

Maintain detailed laboratory documentation, test records, and electronic data in compliance with QA/QC requirements.

Perform routine preventative maintenance and assist with more advanced instrument troubleshooting to minimize downtime.

Support laboratory operations by preparing reagents, standards, and quality control materials.

Coordinate multiple testing assignments while meeting productivity and turnaround-time expectations.

Collaborate with laboratory staff, supervisors, and quality personnel to ensure efficient workflow and regulatory compliance.

Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to laboratory processes, instrumentation, and quality systems.

Hands-on experience operating ICP-MS instrumentation, including sample preparation, calibration, data acquisition, and data review.

Strong understanding of analytical laboratory practices, quality control, and quality assurance principles.

Experience with wet chemistry techniques, including sample digestion, titrations, reagent preparation, and solution chemistry.

Ability to accurately follow laboratory procedures and maintain detailed documentation.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.

Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks and priorities.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Self-motivated, organized, and adaptable in a laboratory environment.

B.S. in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related scientific discipline.

1–3 years of laboratory experience in an analytical testing environment.

Experience performing trace metals analysis in environmental, pharmaceutical, food, industrial, or consumer product testing laboratories.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Memphis, TN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
