Job Title: Maintenance Carpenter
Job Description
This role performs a wide range of carpentry and general building maintenance duties to keep interior and exterior structures, fixtures, and equipment in excellent repair. You plan and lay out work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions, select appropriate materials, and use a variety of hand tools and measuring instruments to complete repairs and improvements. The position requires well-rounded training and experience, typically gained through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent hands-on trade experience. You complete all required job order forms or work authorizations in line with contract specifications, maintain safe work practices, and ensure work sites are left clean and orderly.
Responsibilities

Perform carpentry repairs and maintenance on building woodwork and equipment, including closets, cabinets, counters, benches, partitions, doors, floors, subflooring, stairs, windows, wood trims, and casings.

Install, repair, or replace glass, floor coverings, carpet, tile, hardware, sheetrock, siding, and related materials as needed.

Carry out change-of-occupancy maintenance work, ensuring spaces are prepared and repaired to required standards.

Plan and lay out work from blueprints, construction drawings, models, or verbal instructions, ensuring accurate measurements and material selection.

Use a variety of hand tools, power tools, and standard measuring instruments to perform framing, rough and finish carpentry, and general repairs.

Make standard shop computations relating to dimensions, materials, and layout to complete projects efficiently and accurately.

Read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings to determine work requirements and sequence of tasks.

Install doors and windows, including framing, fitting, and hardware adjustments, to ensure proper operation and finish.

Perform drywall installation, repair, and finish work, including taping, mudding, sanding, and patching.

Complete flooring installation and repair, including tile, carpet, and other floor coverings.

Conduct general building maintenance and repair, including painting, minor mechanical repairs, and troubleshooting basic issues.

Perform preventive maintenance tasks to reduce downtime and extend the life of building components and equipment.

Troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues using mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations, including OSHA requirements, while performing all tasks.

Load and unload trucks safely, including materials, tools, and equipment needed for each job.

Climb and carry ladders, and work at various heights as required to complete maintenance and repair tasks.

Complete required job order forms, work authorizations, and documentation in accordance with contract specifications.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work site at all times, ensuring debris is removed and tools are stored properly.

Work independently or with minimal supervision, managing time and tasks to meet high daily productivity expectations.

Interact with others in a diplomatic and positive manner when coordinating work or accessing occupied areas.
Essential Skills

2–5 years of trade experience or equivalent training in carpentry, construction, or building maintenance.

Ability to read and write English to understand work orders, blueprints, safety instructions, and documentation.

Valid driver’s license (REAL ID with star) and acceptable driving record.

Ability to provide proof of current car insurance.

Strong carpentry skills, including rough and finish carpentry for structural and trim work.

Proficiency in drywall installation, repair, and finish work.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.

Skill in measuring and layout for accurate cutting, fitting, and installation of materials.

Experience with door and window installation, including framing, hanging, and hardware adjustments.

Flooring installation skills, including carpet, tile, and other floor coverings.

General maintenance and repair skills across building systems and finishes.

Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical and maintenance issues.

Knowledge of safety compliance practices, including OSHA standards.

Ability to perform painting and surface preparation as part of building maintenance.

Capability to work independently or with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and quality.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose and repair a variety of building issues.

Diplomatic and positive interpersonal skills when dealing with others on-site.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Formal apprenticeship in carpentry or related trade, or equivalent hands-on training and experience.

Experience in industrial maintenance or construction environments.

Experience in preventive maintenance for building systems and fixtures.

Familiarity with general labor tasks related to construction and maintenance.

Comfort working with a wide range of materials, including wood, sheetrock, siding, glass, carpet, tile, and hardware.

Ability to handle troubleshooting across electrical, mechanical, and general building maintenance within scope of role.

Strong attention to detail in finish carpentry, painting, and final presentation of completed work.

Reliability and consistency in producing high-quality work at a high volume.

Mechanically inclined mindset, with the ability to learn and adapt to new tools and techniques.

Work Environment
This is a high-volume, physically active work environment that requires consistently high-quality, high-output productivity day in and day out. The typical schedule is based on an 8-hour workday, during which you must be able to continually bend, squat, kneel, lift, twist, climb, reach, stand, and walk. The role involves frequent use of hands for repetitive pushing, pulling, and single grasp motions. You will frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 60 pounds and occasionally move objects in excess of 100 pounds. The work includes loading and unloading trucks safely, climbing and carrying ladders, and working in and around building interiors and exteriors. You will regularly use carpentry tools, measuring instruments, and construction materials in a setting that emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and adherence to established procedures.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.21 - $24.21/hr.
