Summary
California Sleep and Counseling Center is a specialized telehealth practice focused on insomnia, Behavioral Sleep Medicine, and adult mental health care. We are building a clinician-centered practice designed to remove the administrative burdens that often lead to burnout, allowing psychologists to focus on meaningful clinical work while developing expertise in Behavioral Sleep Medicine and CBT-I—an increasingly in-demand specialty area with growing national need and limited provider availability.
We are currently seeking fully licensed Clinical Psychologists in California to join our growing remote team. No prior sleep medicine experience is required—all training, mentorship, and clinical support will be provided.
Applicants must hold an active, unrestricted California psychologist license. At this time, we are unable to consider associate or provisionally licensed clinicians requiring supervision.
This position includes comprehensive administrative support—we manage insurance credentialing, patient referrals, scheduling, billing, and marketing so clinicians can focus fully on patient care. We provide a steady stream of referrals, eliminating the need to build or market a private practice independently.
Clinicians are compensated at a flat rate of $85 per completed 90837 session on a reliable bi-weekly payroll schedule. Compensation is paid before insurance reimbursement is received, eliminating the cash-flow delays commonly associated with insurance-based private practice work.
We are hiring for both 1099 contractors (flexible schedule) and W-2 full-time positions. All clinicians begin in a 1099 contractor arrangement while becoming familiar with our clinical protocols, workflow, and Behavioral Sleep Medicine model of care.
Clinicians typically begin with approximately 2–5 clients during the first week and ramp up to approximately 15 billable clinical hours per week within the first 2 months.
Once clinicians have established a consistent caseload, become comfortable with our treatment approach, and demonstrate a strong clinical fit—typically within approximately 6 months—they may become eligible to transition into a full-time W-2 role with benefits.
Our goal is simple: create a sustainable, rewarding clinical environment where psychologists can focus on delivering high-quality care while building long-term career stability.
Reasons to Join Our Team
- Predictable Compensation Without Insurance Delays | Clinicians are paid a flat $85 per completed 90837 session on a reliable bi-weekly payroll schedule—before insurance reimbursement is received. Our flat-rate compensation model eliminates concerns around fluctuating insurance payouts, deductibles, and seasonal variability.
- Consistent Patient Referrals | We manage all marketing, outreach, and patient acquisition efforts, providing clinicians with a steady stream of referrals and eliminating the burden of building a private practice independently.
- Specialized Training in Behavioral Sleep Medicine | Clinicians receive comprehensive training in Behavioral Sleep Medicine, including CBT-I protocols, along with ongoing mentorship and clinical resources. Weekly case consultation and didactic training meetings support continuous learning, peer collaboration, and clinical growth.
- Free, User-Friendly EHR with Built-In AI Documentation Support | Our custom EHR is intuitive, fully covered by the practice, and includes integrated AI-assisted note-writing tools designed to reduce documentation time and administrative workload.
- Comprehensive Administrative Support | Our administrative team handles credentialing, scheduling, billing, copay collection, and operational support so clinicians can focus primarily on direct patient care.
- Flexible Scheduling | Clinicians maintain full control over their schedules with no rigid session requirements or mandatory scheduling blocks. Caseloads and availability can be adjusted based on individual preferences and lifestyle needs.
- Pathway to Long-Term Stability | Clinicians begin in a 1099 contractor arrangement while building familiarity with our systems and treatment model. Once clinicians are comfortable with our clinical workflow, treatment protocols, and consistently carrying approximately 25 billable clinical hours per week—typically within approximately 6 months—they may become eligible to transition into a W-2 position with benefits, including medical, dental, vision, PTO, and a 401(k).
About the Practice
Our practice specializes in insomnia and sleep-related concerns while also providing broader psychotherapy and counseling services for adult clients. While Behavioral Sleep Medicine is a core specialty of our practice, clinicians also work with a wide range of general mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, adjustment challenges, and emotional well-being.
We believe sleep and mental health are deeply interconnected, and our treatment approach reflects that philosophy.
One of the things our clinicians consistently value most is how supported they feel within our practice. Although we are a fully remote team, we place a strong emphasis on collaboration, mentorship, accessibility, and ongoing clinical support.
Clinicians participate in weekly case consultation and didactic training meetings that encourage continuous learning, peer collaboration, and ongoing professional development in both Behavioral Sleep Medicine and general psychotherapy.
We are committed to building meaningful, sustainable careers for mental health professionals within Behavioral Sleep Medicine while maintaining the flexibility and diversity of general psychotherapy practice.
Please note: we exclusively serve adult clients (18+). Applicants must have prior experience providing individual therapy to adult populations.
A Typical Client Journey
Many of our clients seek support for chronic insomnia that is closely connected to anxiety, stress, burnout, or mood-related concerns. Treatment often begins with structured sleep-focused interventions, such as CBT-I, delivered over the first 8–10 weeks.
As treatment progresses and sleep stabilizes, clinicians frequently transition into broader therapeutic work addressing underlying psychological factors, including anxiety, stress management, depression, life transitions, and emotional well-being.
While insomnia and sleep concerns are a core focus of our practice, clinicians also provide ongoing general psychotherapy and mental health support based on each client’s evolving needs.
Responsibilities
- Conduct telehealth psychotherapy sessions with adult clients (typically 53 minutes)
- Participate in training and ongoing development in Behavioral Sleep Medicine and CBT-I protocols
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and treatment records
- Utilize our EHR system to review sleep-related clinical data and inform treatment planning
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based care to clients experiencing insomnia and related mental health concerns

This role is ideal for clinicians who:
