Full Job Description

$350,000–$390,000+ per year · Physician-led freestanding ERs · 18–24 patients per day

Instinctive Healthcare Solutions (IHCS) is a physician-led emergency medicine group hiring full-time Emergency Medicine physicians for our modern, low-volume freestanding emergency departments in the Phoenix, Arizona metro area. We operate two freestanding ER locations today — El Mirage and Fountain Hills — with two more opening in the next 12 months: a new ER in Tempe and a micro-hospital in Central Phoenix, creating immediate leadership and growth opportunities.

Open to Five Specialties — All Encouraged to Apply

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, or Pulmonology. A structured training track is available for physicians seeking to transition into lower-volume, concierge-like emergency medicine practice — including family medicine, internal medicine, and urgent care physicians moving into emergency medicine, and critical care or pulmonary physicians who want to keep using their resuscitation and airway skills without ICU rounding. Recent graduates and final-year residents and fellows are welcome.

Compensation (1099 Independent Contractor)

Day shifts: $2,300 · Night shifts: $2,500
Work 13+ shifts/month and rates increase retroactively across all shifts that month: Day $2,500 · Night $2,800
Observation patients: $150 per patient (typically 1–2 per shift)
Physicians working 13 shifts/month with benefits are earning $390,000 and up — plus benefits on top

Schedule

12-hour shifts: 7 AM–7 PM and 7 PM–7 AM, with night shift differentials
Mix of days and some nights; 24-hour shifts can be accommodated
Full-time commitment: minimum 12 shifts per month (144 hours)
Start date: ASAP

What You’ll Do

Evaluate, diagnose, stabilize, and treat emergency patients of all ages in a freestanding emergency department
Perform emergency procedures including airway management, resuscitation, laceration repair, and fracture/dislocation management — with mentorship and progressive independence for physicians on the training track
Manage observation patients (typically 1-2 per shift)
Order and interpret on-site imaging (CT, X-ray, ultrasound) and laboratory studies
Coordinate transfers to higher levels of care when medically necessary
Document accurately and efficiently in the EMR

Requirements

MD or DO
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, or Pulmonology — all encouraged to apply
Active Arizona medical license or license-eligible; DEA
Current ACLS; ATLS and PALS current or willingness to obtain
Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
