Postal Office Clerk

Location: Town of Paradise Valley, AZ
Employment Type: Full-Time
Pay Rate: $25.00 - $30.00

Job Summary

The Town of Paradise Valley is seeking a dependable and customer-focused Postal Office Clerk to support daily operations at the Town’s contract post office. This position provides excellent customer service while processing various types of mail, handling postage and stamp sales, maintaining accurate records, balancing daily transactions, and ensuring compliance with current postal regulations.

The ideal candidate will have strong clerical and customer service skills, excellent attention to detail, and at least one year of postal work experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Assist Town post office customers with mailing needs and determine appropriate postage for parcels, express, certified, registered, and international mail.
Sell postage stamps and maintain accurate inventory of stamps, envelopes, and postal supplies.
Enter customer transactions and postage information accurately into the computer system.
Balance cash drawer and daily receipts, ensuring transactions are accurate and properly documented.
Maintain accurate records and prepare periodic reports related to post office activities.
Order and maintain necessary postal supplies, including stamps, envelopes, forms, and other materials.
Follow current United States Postal Service regulations, procedures, and requirements.
Coordinate maintenance and repairs for postal equipment as needed.
Evaluate postal equipment and provide recommendations regarding equipment purchases.
Participate in audits of the Town’s contract post office.
Recommend and follow policies, procedures, work rules, and performance standards in accordance with Town standards and applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Provide professional, courteous, and responsive customer service to members of the public.
Perform other related clerical and administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of two years of clerical and customer service experience.
Minimum of one year of postal work experience required.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Basic computer skills and the ability to accurately enter transactions and maintain records.
Ability to handle cash accurately and balance a cash drawer daily.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to understand and follow postal regulations, policies, and procedures.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive customer and financial information professionally.

Schedule: Flexible Hours between 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, 4 hours daily 5X a week. Possible 8 hour days 3X a week.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be reliable, organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working directly with the public. Experience handling cash, processing mail, maintaining inventory, using computer systems, and working in a customer-service environment is highly valued.
