Full Job Description

This position will be a hybrid based role for candidates living in the Grand Rapids, MI area.

Job Summary: Tax Analyst

At MISTR, our operational and financial accuracy is foundational to our success. As a Tax Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting the Company’s tax compliance, planning, and reporting activities across our multi-entity organization. This position requires strong technical tax knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to ensure timely and accurate tax filings and tax-related financial reporting.

None.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Tax Compliance

Support the preparation and review federal, state, and local tax filings, including income, franchise, sales/use, and other indirect taxes.
Support multi-state tax compliance requirements across multiple legal entities.
Coordinate with external tax advisors on complex filings and special projects.
Monitor filing deadlines and ensure timely submissions.

Tax Provision & Reporting

Assist with quarterly and annual tax provision calculations.
Prepare tax-related journal entries and account reconciliations.
Support deferred tax calculations and related disclosures.
Partner with the accounting team to ensure proper tax treatment in financial statements.

Sales & Indirect Tax

Support sales and use tax compliance, including nexus tracking and registrations.
Review taxability of products and services (including pharmacy and telehealth considerations).
Assist with exemption certificate management and audit support.

Process Improvement

Identify opportunities to streamline tax processes and improve accuracy.
Assist with implementation or enhancement of tax and ERP systems.
Help develop and maintain tax policies and procedures.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with accounting, finance, legal, and operational teams on tax matters.
Provide tax guidance for new initiatives, contracts, and operational changes.
Support M&A, entity formation, and multi-state expansion activities as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

· Professional Experience: 3–6+ years of progressive tax experience, preferably in a multi-entity or multi-state environment.

· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

· Technical Tax Knowledge: Strong understanding of U.S. federal and state tax concepts.

· Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze tax data with high accuracy and attention to detail.

· Software Skills: Proficiency in tax software, accounting/ERP systems, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

· Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive financial and tax information with integrity and discretion.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

· Certifications: CPA, MST, or working toward certification strongly preferred.

· Public Accounting Experience: Experience in tax or audit is a plus.

· Industry Knowledge: Healthcare, pharmacy, telehealth, or multi-state operations experience preferred.

· Software Proficiency: Experience with modern ERPs, tax automation tools, or BI tools (Power BI, Tableau).

· Multi-entity Experience: Familiarity with intercompany tax matters and consolidated environments.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Ability to lift up to 15 pounds intermittently.
