Full Job Description

Job Title: AP Physics Teacher
Position Type: Part-Time, Contract
Location: In Person – Derby, CT
Hourly Rate: $35–$50/hour
Schedule: Approximately 1.5–2 hours per session on Saturdays and/or Sundays between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM

Position Overview:
APEX Global Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable AP Physics Teacher to teach in-person classes at our Derby, CT campus. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in physics and experience supporting high school students in advanced coursework such as AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, and/or AP Physics C. This role focuses on helping students develop a solid understanding of physics principles, strengthen problem-solving and analytical thinking, and prepare for school exams and the AP exams.

Key Responsibilities:

Teach small-group classes in AP Physics (Physics 1, Physics 2, and/or Physics C: Mechanics/Electricity & Magnetism).
Help students understand key physics concepts such as kinematics, Newtonian mechanics, energy and momentum, waves, electricity and magnetism, and circuits.
Support students with coursework, lab-based reasoning, practice problems, and AP exam preparation.
Develop structured lesson plans aligned with the AP curriculum.
Monitor student progress and provide feedback to students and APEX staff.
Encourage critical thinking and the application of physics principles to real-world scenarios.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Physics, Engineering, Education, or a related field.
Prior experience teaching AP Physics or advanced high school physics preferred.
Strong understanding of the AP Physics curriculum (Physics 1, Physics 2, and/or Physics C).
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Passion for helping students succeed in challenging academic courses.

Compensation and Schedule:

$32–$35 per teaching hour
Classes are scheduled on weekends between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, with each session lasting approximately 1.5–2 hours.
