Full Job Description

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced General Manager to oversee our retail operations in Barre and Morrisville. As the General Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team, driving sales, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining efficient store operations.

The regular schedule for the General Manager will be 2 days per week in Morrisville and 3 days per week in Barre. This may fluctuate based on need, but mileage will be paid when there are deviations from the regular schedule.

ReSOURCE is an innovative non-profit organization with the mission to empower individuals and strengthen Vermont communities through workforce development, poverty relief, and environmental stewardship. The General Manager fulfills this mission by creating a marketplace for reuse while providing new opportunities to the under-skilled and long-term unemployed.

Our community recognizes the value of donating excess goods, and its positive effects for our environment. ReSOURCE prevents more than 1,000 tons of material from ending up in our landfills each year by finding new homes for major appliances, building materials, computers, electronics, furniture, and other household goods donated to our stores.

Responsibilities:

- Provide leadership and guidance to store staff, volunteers, and trainees fostering a positive and productive work environment

- Develop and implement training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge

- Drive sales growth by setting sales targets, analyzing performance data, and implementing effective sales strategies

- Ensure exceptional customer service by coaching and mentoring staff on customer interaction and problem resolution

- Manage donated inventory control processes to optimize stock levels and minimize keeping items out of the landfill in accordance with our mission

- Oversee cash handling procedures to maintain accuracy and security

- Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate store staff to ensure a high-performing team

- Monitor and analyze sales reports, financial statements, and other key performance indicators to identify areas for improvement

- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute promotional activities to drive foot traffic and increase sales

- Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing store environment

-This position reports directly to the Operations Director

Requirements:

- Proven experience in retail sales management

- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team

- Experience and confidence in conflict resolution

- Excellent training development abilities to enhance employee performance

- Proficient in retail math calculations for inventory management and sales analysis

- Demonstrated expertise in leading and building high-performing teams

- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to handle difficult situations effectively

- Strong analytical skills to interpret sales data and make informed business decisions

- Ability to effectively manage inventory control processes

- Computer skills

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

-Ability to develop and maintain partnerships with outside agencies, suppliers, donors and customers

Availability Monday through Saturday required.
