Position Summary:
Accuturn is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented CMM Programmer to join our Quality Department. This full-time position is ideal for individuals with 4+ years of experience independently programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) in a precision manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, validating, and maintaining CMM programs used to inspect complex aerospace and defense components while supporting production by communicating inspection results, required machine offsets, and process improvements to operators, programmers, and engineering personnel. Proficiency in CMM programming is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently create, modify, validate, and maintain CMM inspection programs for first article, in-process, and final inspections using Zeiss Calypso software.
- Program CMMs to inspect complex CNC turned, milled, and Swiss machined components using engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T requirements.
- Validate new CMM programs prior to release and continuously improve existing inspection programs to increase efficiency and repeatability.
- Qualify CMM probes, styli, and probe configurations on a routine basis to ensure accurate measurements, repeatable inspection results, and compliance with customer and quality system requirements.
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, customer specifications, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) to develop accurate inspection routines.
- Analyze inspection data and communicate required machine offsets, tool wear corrections, and process adjustments to CNC operators and setup personnel to ensure parts remain within specification.
- Complete CMM inspections per customer standards while complying with ISO 9001:2000 and AS9100 quality requirements.
- Support other Quality Department functions as needed and other duties and/or responsibilities assigned by supervisor/manager.
Requirements:
- 4+ years of experience independently programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).
- Experience qualifying CMM probes and managing probe configurations to ensure measurement accuracy and repeatability.
- Advanced ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, blueprints, and GD&T.
- Experience communicating machine offsets and dimensional corrections directly with CNC operators and setup personnel.
