Full Job Description

Job Overview

Family Dentistry is seeking an experienced Dental Accounts Receivable & Insurance Coordinator to take ownership of the insurance and accounts receivable functions within our practice.

This is a true dental billing and A/R position focused on keeping claims moving, accounts accurate, and outstanding balances actively worked and resolved. We are looking for someone who understands the dental revenue cycle, is comfortable digging into aging, and has the persistence to follow an issue through to resolution.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Actively manage dental A/R, including 30-, 60-, 90-, and 90+ day aging
Submit dental insurance claims accurately and timely
Follow up on outstanding, delayed, rejected, and denied claims
Research denials and submit corrected claims or appeals when appropriate
Submit necessary claim attachments, including narratives, radiographs, and supporting documentation
Review EOBs and insurance payments for accuracy
Post insurance payments, adjustments, and write-offs
Identify and follow up on insurance underpayments and payment discrepancies
Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, frequencies, limitations, and coverage
Submit and track pre-authorizations/pre-determinations
Handle coordination of benefits and primary/secondary insurance issues
Review and follow up on outstanding patient balances
Communicate with patients regarding insurance, EOBs, estimated portions, and account questions
Maintain detailed and accurate account notes and follow-up documentation
Identify recurring insurance or A/R issues and work with the team to resolve them

What We're Looking For

2+ years of dental insurance, billing, or accounts receivable experience strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of dental claims, EOBs, denials, aging, adjustments, and patient balances
Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and CDT codes
Ability to interpret insurance benefits, EOBs, and fee schedules
Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
Comfortable communicating with insurance companies and patients
Ability to work independently and take ownership of A/R
Strong problem-solving skills — if something doesn't look right, you investigate it
Dental practice management software experience preferred

Schedule & Work Location

Employment Type: Full-time or part-time, based on experience and qualifications

We are open to structuring this position around the right candidate. An experienced dental billing professional who can efficiently manage the billing and accounts receivable needs of both practice locations may be successful in a part-time schedule. For a full-time candidate, the role may include additional insurance-related responsibilities, such as insurance verification and benefit management.

Work Location: Flexible — in-office, hybrid, or remote may be considered based on experience and qualifications.
