Full Job Description

We're seeking detail-oriented Quality Inspectors to join our team in Milford, Connecticut. Hiring for both 1st and 2nd shift positions, offering a four-day work week (four 10-hour shifts).

This role focuses on the inspection and cosmetic evaluation of firearm components and other precision metal products. The ideal candidate has experience identifying surface defects, evaluating plating and finish quality, and performing precision finishing work using pneumatic hand tools, polishing equipment, and microscopes.

Responsibilities

Perform detailed visual inspections of firearm components and precision metal products throughout the manufacturing and finishing process.
Inspect parts under magnification and microscopes to identify cosmetic and process-related defects.
Evaluate plated, coated, polished, engraved, and finished surfaces for compliance with customer and company quality standards.
Identify defects such as scratches, pits, porosity, discoloration, uneven coverage, burn marks, inclusions, edge buildup, staining, plating inconsistencies, and other finish-related imperfections.
Use pneumatic polishing and grinding tools to perform minor cosmetic corrections and surface refinements when rework is required.
Document inspection findings and communicate quality concerns to production personnel.
Work closely with finishing, gunsmithing, and production teams to maintain high-quality standards and workmanship.

Qualifications

Previous experience in quality inspection, metal finishing, plating, polishing, gunsmithing, jewelry manufacturing, or a related precision manufacturing environment.
Strong visual inspection skills and exceptional attention to detail.
Experience using microscopes, magnification equipment, or other visual inspection tools.
Familiarity with metal finishing processes and the defects commonly associated with plating, coating, polishing, engraving, and surface preparation.
Experience using pneumatic hand tools, polishing equipment, or similar finishing tools.
Ability to work independently and consistently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience inspecting firearm components or working within the firearms industry.
Knowledge of plating, anodizing, Cerakote, PVD, polishing, engraving, or other decorative and functional finishing processes.
Familiarity with cosmetic quality standards and customer-facing appearance requirements.
Experience performing cosmetic rework and surface refinement.
Familiarity with Non-Conforming Material Reports (NCMRs) and related quality documentation is a plus.
Experience using ERP systems for production tracking, quality records, inventory transactions, or related manufacturing processes is a plus.
