About the Role: ATR Treehouse, a Rhode Island-based leader in Audio Visual Productions, Rentals, and System Integration, is seeking a full-time experienced Lead Audio Visual Technician. We serve a diverse range of corporate, higher education, non-profit, municipal, and performing arts clients.
As the Lead AV Technician, you will be the primary technical authority and team lead on show sites ranging from corporate meetings, commencement ceremonies, press conferences, town halls, galas, and theatrical performances. You will take ownership of event success—interfacing directly with clients, guiding crews, and executing multi-disciplinary productions spanning video, live audio, and lighting. This is an active, hands-on leadership role: you won't just be managing from behind a clipboard, but actively setting up gear, running boards, and working alongside your crew from load-in to strike.
Key Responsibilities:
- Event Leadership & Accountability: Take ownership of the onsite show lifecycle from prep to strike. Responsible for the overall safety, technical execution, and success of each event as well as the physical setup, technical operation, and strike of equipment. Lead onsite crews to ensure equipment is deployed safely, efficiently, and to ATR Treehouse standards.
- Client Interface & Service: Represent ATR Treehouse professionally. Manage live client requests, troubleshoot issues in real time, and guarantee complete customer satisfaction.
- Multi-Discipline Technical Execution: Setup, operate, and troubleshoot complex AV systems, including video switchers, projection, PTZ/cameras, live sound reinforcement (mixing, wireless RF), and lighting.
- Content Management: Review and test client-provided media and presentations for functionality prior to showtime; edit PowerPoint/Keynote slides on the fly; perform light audio editing for Voice of God (VOG) announcements, walk-in audio, and media clips.
- Stream Management: Setup and oversee live video streaming workflows, signal routing, and broadcast feeds.
- Warehouse Operations: Assist with loading/unloading trucks, equipment prep, quality control (QC) processing, and inventory management between events.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 5–7 years in live event production, including at least 2 years in a team lead, technical director, or crew supervisor role.
- Technical Proficiency:
-Advanced knowledge of video production (switchers, scaling, multi-screen setups, streaming protocols).
-Strong working proficiency in live audio engineering (digital consoles, microphone placement, PA systems, RF management).
-Functional understanding of stage lighting systems (DMX control, power distribution).
- Client & Leadership Skills: Exceptional communication, calm problem-solving under pressure, and a strong sense of personal accountability for show outcomes. Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work variable hours, including nights, weekends, and occasional multi-day travel.
- Driving: Valid driver’s license required. Must be willing and able to drive company vehicles up to a 26’ box truck. Must pass a DOT physical and maintain a medical certificate.
- Background Checks: All applicants are subject to driver and criminal background checks.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift at least 50 lbs., bend, squat, climb ladders, and work at heights safely.
