Full Job Description

Poggio Trattoria, an award-winning Italian restaurant in the heart of downtown Sausalito, is seeking a full-time Bar Manager to lead the beverage program at our full-service restaurant. Located at 777 Bridgeway adjacent to our hotel partner, the Casa Madrona Hotel & Spa, Poggio serves high-quality, seasonal Italian food alongside a thoughtfully curated bar. We're looking for a hospitality-driven leader with a genuine passion for wine, cocktails, and taking care of guests. The ideal candidate has several years of high-volume, full-service bar experience, deep knowledge of California and Italian wines, and a love of classic and seasonal cocktails. This is a leadership position with strong growth potential within our restaurant group.

Job Responsibilities include:

An ever-present focus on hospitality and a strong presence behind the bar and on the floor
Leadership of the bar, cocktail, and wine programs, including menu development and seasonal updates
Curating and updating the wine list to complement our Italian menu; pricing for profitability and variety
Purchasing and inventory: ordering wine, beer, and spirits, tracking stock, and managing cellar inventory
Establishing and nurturing vendor and supplier relationships
Hiring, training, scheduling, and coaching bar staff
Educating service staff on wine knowledge, pairings, and proper service techniques
Monthly beverage inventory, cost controls, and budget adherence
Ensuring a consistent, high-quality guest experience (beverage/service/facility)
Making every guest feel welcome, whether they're a hotel partner, Marin local, or visiting tourist
Communicating policies and procedures to team members
Ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and alcohol-service regulations

To apply, you must have:

Upscale high-volume restaurant experience
Strong references

A passion for seasonal Italian food and wine

The ideal candidate also has:

Minimum 2 years of experience in a bar-management or beverage-lead role
Experience building and buying for a wine list and working with vendors on pricing
Strong knowledge of Italian and California wines; amaro and aperitivo familiarity a plus
Experience with major POS systems (Toast preferred)
Strong organizational and leadership skills
Proficiency in English and Spanish preferred
Familiarity with 7shifts, OpenTable, and TripleSeat
Schedule flexibility: nights, weekends, and holidays required
Able to work on your feet for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
